still 20:51 :hmm: Well, maybe some Rundungsfehler

That was a mean one. I wanted to get fancy and lower some mouth clicks with applying an envelope. Only that the envelope didn't come with the sound when I cut a piece of the sound out before, but stayed where it was. And you don't see the envelope in cutting mode...

after not hearing back from the reader, I released Section 33 again and claimed it for myself. I can fit in such a short section in my schedule

no, it's because you have nearly 7 seconds silence at the end now ;) but I think we can let that pass for once. All the rest is excellently corrected.

PL ok.

I have never worked with an enveloppe :hmm: so I wouldn't know what it does. Well, at least now I can hear the whole sentence well so all is fine.

thank you !

Jim, here is my section 33, ready for your PL :) It's basically a synopsis of many of the sections you have read for this project. 8-)

For your listening pleasure:

Section 92 Mesopotamia Part II: Babylon the magnificent: historical note
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/worldstory_volume02_092_tappan_128kb.mp3

I popped my "p"s and "b"s a little more often than I would like, but since we're on a schedule here, I decided not to redo them. If anything is too annoying, let me know... :D

Hi Sonia,
Here is section 80. I cleared the noise using noise reduction and normalizing, but it still has an echo... I can try recording it again if you think it is needed.

thanks TJ :) But please don't think you need to rush through the section. The "schedule" is not THAT pressing. As you can see, yours are not yet the last sections we're waiting for. If you need an extension for your final claim, don't hesitate to ask.

P.S. you forgot to tell me the length of the file.

thank you, Yael :D I will update the MW for the moment and PL later. For the moment I want to take advantage of some quiet time here at home and record my own backlog claims ;) I'll let you know what I think about the audio quality. I can't remember any echo in your other section :hmm: I'll check it out later on and let you know.

Don't mind if I do take you up on your offer: I will be needing an extension on my last section. Also I could smooth out some of my popping "p"s and "b"s in this one if I have a little more time.

it was a pleasure indeed :9: I love your narrative style. I think so far I only heard you in stage plays. Well, this one was extremely well read and no errors at all. Also I don't hear any disturbing plosives, so there's no need to correct anything whatsoever. This is PL ok.

And this means, you get the special distinction for having completed the 100th section in this project :D

all right, I'll change the deadline on your section. Would one more month be enough ? 12th June then :)

thanks

all right, Yael, I just listened to your section. First of all, it is beautifully read. I know what you mean about the echo, it is strange and I don't know how it could have happened. Your other section didn't have this echo. Did you record in another room ?

However, the sound is not at all disturbing for me, and everything is perfectly understandable. In fact, I somehow got the vibe of standing inside the large shah's chamber as a tourist and you being the guide explaining it all to our group. The way you were narrating and the sound totally fitted for that scenario. :9: So I don't think we need to change that.

However there are a few other notes, that you would need to take care of:

> your volume is under 85 dB, which is below our accepted limit, could you please amplify with about 5 dB ?

> at the beginning: you have 11 seconds of silence , which is way too much ;) please cut it down to about 0.5-1 second maximum

> from 0:17-0:20: also here, between intro disclaimer and title, over 3 seconds of silence feels like too much waiting space. 1 or 1.5 seconds is enough

> at 0:22: please also state the “subtitle” of the title “about 1885”, between title and author. It’s always nice to have the full title and especially times are important here as it’s supposed to be a world history book

> from 2:28-2:34: here again, over 5 seconds of silence in the middle of the text are too long. Please also here cut down to only one second

> finally, since you have to reupload anyway, the filename is missing a 0 to make it three-digits: should be “080

so, no need to re-record, apart from the missing year in the title. The text as such is really well read. :)

thanks
