Hi all,
I happened upon Librivox looking for audio recordings of poet Vachel Lindsay's works. Among other things central-Illinois-related, Lindsay wrote a book (his only one, actually) titled "The Golden Book of Springfield". The book, maybe you know or maybe you don't, predicts that a golden age of art and culture for Springfield, Illinois, and the US will begin starting in 2018, and that it'll all begin in Springfield. A life-long resident of Springfield, I'm a member of an art group here named The Pharmacy Gallery & Art Space. That's the reason I went looking for the audio clips of Lindsay's work: for custom dance music I'm composing for our June 8th art exhibition and after-party we're calling "Golden Age". The music is done now, actually, and I've posted it online here:

...and here:

So, thanks to the existence of Librivox, I was able to compose such music for this special occasion. I would also like to let ChuckW (the volunteer who reads "The Golden Book") know that I have used his voice throughout the music. Chuck, if you see this message, thank you very much!
Keep up the good works....
Regards,
Timothy Russell
Thanks! Plus, a message for ChuckW....

(And for the record, I should have the whole book finished soon. I'm in a rut grading student essays right now, but I'm planning on finishing up the next three chapters soon after.)

You're welcome, Chuck! Glad you saw the message. This Golden Age thing of ours here is looking to be a quite a celebration. If you can make it to the Springfield area this Friday night (June 8th) you should stop in! A link to the Facebook event is here:

The show is free and open to the public. We're trying to make dear old Vachel proud of his hometown, of course. My music that includes your voice begins about 9:30pm.
Anyway, best of fortunes to you on all levels....
Sincerely,
Timothy
