Doors of the Night by Frank L. Packard (1877 - 1942).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/doors-of-the-night-by-frank-l-packard/
New York City, 1922—Murder—half-million dollar robbery—false accusation—secret passage—the underworld—a mystery woman—a masked man—a crooked lawyer—stolen jewels—a forged will. . .
“Every hour . . . held a surer promise, not only of desperate peril to himself, but a promise that he would find himself launched in a sea of crime, of shuddering things, of murder, of blood, of sordid viciousness, of hate.”
( Delmar H. Dolbier)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/35818
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

MW coming up.

Edit: Do you have someone in line to be the DPL. If not we can place a ~ before the book title in the subject line to advertise that we are looking for one.
Let me know if you need any assistance.

I don't know what causes that random thumping noise and I don't know how to fix it. Help?

Delmar,
I just changed the status of your files to "Ready for PL." In addition to posting in the thread, changing the file status lets everyone know that a file is ready to be PLed.
