Elsie at Nantucket by Martha Finley (1828 - 1909).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on the catalog page.

https://librivox.org/elsie-at-nantucket-by-martha-finley/
Elsie and her family travel to Nantucket Island to spend the summer. The Raymond children and others learn important lessons. After a delightful summer, they journey on to Lansdale, Ohio to visit Aunt Wealthy. ( Amy)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/14379
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    • Say:

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of Elsie at Nantucket by Martha Finley. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"

Hi Amy. I will be your MC for this project.

It looks like this will be your first project as soloist/book coordinator(BC). Once I enter the project in the database, you will need to set up a password for access to the workflow system so you can enter the information into the section compiler which then appears in the "Magic Window" in the top post. Here are some links to detailed instructions for logging into the system and setting a password the first time, as well as for entering and editing information in the section compiler.

First Time Logging in to the Workflow

Instructions for BCs and DPLs

A version of the above is also in the LibriVox wiki in case you can't access Google Docs for some reason.

BCs - How to Update the Magic Window

If you have any questions, let me know. I'll leave this thread here in the Launch Pad for a day or so longer before I move it to the Going Solo forum, to see if a DPL (Dedicated Prooflistener) volunteers. Looking forward to working with you.

Jo is having electricity issues, so I'll answer.

Looks good! Please put the run time in the Notes field. Other than that, it's perfect!

Thanks for stepping in here, Tricia. Looks like you are off to a good start, Amy. I'll leave the thread here for another day or so to see if we can attract a DPL. :)

Hello Helen,

Thank you very much! That would be great!

Jo, do I need to update the MW to show that?

Hi ~Amy :D

sect 1 Chapter 1

PL notes: (Don't panic, you need to do a little editing.)

9:22-31 slight stumble, repeated line: up into her...
11:48 repeated sentence: he headed away
14:19 slight stumble
17:45 slight stumble, then repeated sentence: unless you choose...
23:59 repeated line: 'Is it what I ought to do?'"
24:20 slight stumble, then repeated line: nor keep the tears
24:54 slight stumble
25:08 line repeated 3 times: can not...

The most important thing is, your reading voice & style are wonderful.

Hi ~Amy,

sect 1 Chapter 1
PL note #2
This one was missed, probably because the time line changed after the removal of previous repeated lines.
24:03 repeated line: nor keep the tears

Awesome editing job!

Here's a tip - when editing from PL notes, start from the end of the recording and work your way backwards. That way the times noted by your DPL will stay the same as you cut out repeats. :)
