The Three Musketeers, by Alexandre Dumas (1802 - 1870). Translated by William Robson (1785 - 1863)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-three-musketeers-version-2-by-alexandre-dumas/
(Will be entered later) ( )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1257
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I was a major contributor to the LV collaborative effort published 10 years ago, but I only read my chapters; this time, I'll entertain myself with the whole story!

I'll MC this one for you, Mark, but we need the rest of the template. I can get the MW, at least, because the code is there!

I have regenerated a template and copied the post-code portion back into the top post.

Unfortunately - that put a spurious project on the system. You may delete either the one shown above or the new one: Project Code: Ai980Gzd

Now the first post looks great! No worries about the extra code generated. That code is only temporary, and will just fade away into the ether, or the gremlins will eat it after midnight! The only time there will be an extra project floating around is if I created an extra MW, which I did not do. We are all good here!

I'm surprised there has only been one version of this book made in the whole history of LV! Amazing! Anyway, I have added a 2 in the file name so that there will be no confusion between your project and the group project that you were a part of. I will also add Version 2 to the behind the scenes stuff.

One thing that I will point out to you is that we decided to have just 5 seconds of silence at the end of all recordings. We feel that there isn't an issue with players cutting off part of a recording anymore, and the 10 seconds is just a bit long to wait for the next chapter.

We will wait here a day or so to see if we can pick up a DPL. Have fun! I will listen to this one when you are all done, I can't wait!

ETA: I knew there was something else! To answer your question about the keywords, these are just words or short phrases that are used to help search engines find something on the internet. When I have a group project that is more of a children's story, I'll use words like "animals" "camping" "adventure", things like that. If you want to think about those keywords as you record, that's fine. I can always add those later, when I catalog the project.

I was wondering if you would remember! But, never fear, here are the instructions! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kVj409nG_E0XJ5UrrcL7EVx7Qyx-2UQ7dbw4mINi3XQ

I will paste your sections into the MW for you, until you get back in.

He will as soon as he gets back into the MW. It's been a while since Mark has recorded, so he is a little rusty with all the new stuff.

I'm OK, now. It turned out it just didn't like my old password any more. I've updated the Chapter 1 title and will continue to do so.
