A Friend in Need by Dora Sigerson Shorter (1866 - 1918).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/a-friend-in-need-by-dora-sigerson-shorter/
Dora Maria Sigerson Shorter was an Irish poet and sculptor, who after her marriage in 1895 wrote under the name Dora Sigerson Shorter. ( Wikipedia)
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This week's poem can be found here.

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
A Friend in Need by Dora Sigerson Shorter, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
Who has room for a friend
Who has money to spend,
And a goblet of gold
For your fingers to hold,
At the wave of whose hand
Leap the salmon to land,
Drop the birds of the air,
Fall the stag and the hare.
Who has room for a friend
Who has money to lend?
We have room for a friend!

Who has room for a friend
Who has nothing to lend,
When the goblet of gold
Is as far from his hold
As the fleet-footed hare,
Or the birds of the air.
Who has room for a friend
Who has nothing to spend?
We know not such a friend.

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: friend_shorter_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. friend_shorter_klh_128kb.mp3 )

ID3 tags (Version 2.30): ID Tags are completed during Cataloging

David,

Just wanted to bring to your attention that there is a extra letter in the sample filename in this paragraph:
aradlaw wrote: March 2nd, 2018, 8:12 pm ...Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: friend_shorter_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. friend_shorterh_klh_128kb.mp3 )
and that some already copy-pasted this when exporting their MP3 files, which you'll need to rename in your repository.

Thanks!

I can still hear Jude in this file: https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/friend_shorter_jh_128kb.mp3 (note the extra "_." in the file name). Can you rename it?

Thanks Jude, your file has been found. Yes, Checker gives a range in which it will pass a file.
