The Christmas Child by Hesba Stretton (1832 - 1911).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-christmas-child-by-hesba-stretton/

To be added later. ( The Reader)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/files/20453
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

It is nice to see you again, too! I was very happy to see that you were doing this project, and that it had not been claimed.

Yes, it really is! Here's chapter 2: https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/christmaschild_02_stretton_128kb.mp3 17:13

I expect I'll be too busy to record tomorrow, but I had cancellations today that allowed me to get to chapter 2.

Thank you again for telling me about this author. Apparently, she wrote many books. Hopefully, they'll be scanned and available to record in the future. I'll have to watch for them.

Peace be with you,
Sister

Section 2 is PL OK. Yes, she was a prolific writer. I love both the down to earth spiritual truth and the wonderful evocations of London and the Welsh countryside in the ones I've listened to. I hope she does the same for other parts of England in others.

Hello, Pattymarie! Here is chapter 3: https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/christmaschild_03_stretton_128kb.mp3 12:27

The last section is the longest, so I haven't decided whether I'll do this one next or St Cyril. I don't want Laurie Anne to miss us. But I hope to have something for you next week. Thank you!

Hello Monaxi and Ann,

Just letting you know that I'm not listening today because my father woke up in very bad condition this morning, regained alertness for a short while, but has lapsed back into unconsciousness and needs oxygen support to breathe and some other medical support. Most of the people attending him seem to think "this is it." I'm keeping my mind and heart in prayer for God's will for him. Thanks for your patience.
