Chapter 13 is PL OK.
Does it really take him that long to figure it out? I guess it must, since he hasn't twigged about his wife's spirit coming back/possessing other people. The Newcastle fantasy series really takes in a range of titles. I just wish it were possible to see a longlist - whoever compiled the final list of novels that did get reprinted must have read all kinds of odd and interesting books!

Three notes for chapter 15:
1.58-2.01. P. 198, first paragraph, mid-paragraph:
...see the English pikes [heard pipes] sweep down upon them...
Though it would have been kind of cool if plumbing had won the day!
8.55-8.59. P. 200, bottom of page. Repetition:
St. George for merry England!
34.54. P. 210, mid-paragraph of first full paragraph:
...and I, with my good comrade ['Flamaucoeur' partly cut out], now, at sunset...

The Ballantyne series seems to have been intertwined to a point ?Newgatenovelist wrote: ↑January 8th, 2018, 10:01 am

Chapter 15 is PL OK. One note for Chapter 16:
4.06, p. 216, mid-paragraph of the first paragraph. Omission of a couple of lines or so:
...the King's own chaplain [bareheaded ... surlily] but, reflecting that the maid...
The Ballantyne list looks absolutely fantastic. I spotted a couple of titles on there that I'm waiting to pounce on as soon as they become PD for Legamus, and a couple of others that have been on my to-read list for a while. Thanks, Anne!

Chapter 16 re-uploaded.
From memory the Ballantine list had a lot more non-PD books than Newcastle. Which ones will be coming up for Legamus?

I'm getting an error message when I try to download the new file. I'll try later on. Sometimes it has a funny five minutes.
You're absolutely right, most of the Ballantine list isn't currently PD. Althoooooooough it looks like some of the E. R. Eddison is PD, and that there was an expanded edition of The Twilight of the Gods by Richard Garnett published in 1903. As for Legamus, authors are coming out of copyright faster than I can record them, but I'm still getting the 'I want!'s when I look. It's a good ten years or so away, but for me the big one is Lord Dunsany, including what's probably his most famous novel.
I drool over it, but it's a bit silly, really. There's still plenty to be getting on with, here and on Legamus, without moaning over the Ballantine stuff that isn't available yet.

Nah, I don't think it's taking too long. And even if it were, it would fit with Phra's going into a state of suspended animation! Just keep going and whenever it's done, it's done. I'm happy with the pace if you are.
I was looking for things to listen to on the BBC, and it looks like there is a short (15-minute) segment on William Morris and his contemporaries in the context of his socialism:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09rzmb6
I haven't listened to it yet, but it looks promising.

I have also reuploaded 18 as I think I may have forgotten to level the volume.
Phra will have to go into suspended animation for a week or so. I have run out of recorded and won't be back to my microphone until next week. Meanwhile, I'll get back to Child Christopher.
Thanks for the BBC Morris link - I'll listen to that tomorrow! The whole series looks interesting, in fact. I see the previous episode was on the Rochdale Society of Equitable Pioneers. We have a recording on them on Librivox somewhere.
