Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 7: Part 3: Murat by Alexandre Dumas (1802 - 1870). Translated by George Burnham Ives (1856 - 1930)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/celebrated-crimes-vol-7-part-3-murat-by-alexandre-dumas/
Amidst the political winds from Napoleon’s downfall, this tale turns our attention to the flight of a former French marshal and King of Naples, Joachim Murat. Murat, unhappy with the deal he made to obtain pardon from the Austrian Emperor, takes a life-ending resolution to retake his crown rather than live in peaceful obscurity. (jvanstan)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2760
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Patty Marie,

Also, a belated Happy New Year! Sorry for my absence since the holidays started - we were moving to a new house. Finally the holidays and move have settled down... a little ;)

All three sections are now available for proof listening and I'm starting the first section of volume 8 (Marquise de Brinvillier)! We're on the home stretch

Hope all's well,
John

I hope you're happy with your new house, John. Got the files just before heading to bed, so I've get to some good listening tomorrow.

Sections 2 and 3 are PL OK.

Section 1 is missing "End of Section 1"

Just fyi there is a change in the back ground starting at the beginning of the reading of Ferdinand's letter in section three. It suddenly sounds like it's in some kind of more deeply acoustical chamber then the previous recording, but it doesn't affect comprehensibility; in fact your voice and enunciation sound sharper.

Thanks, Patty Marie!

I added the "end of section" statement and the recording is ready for a spot PL. Yeah, the change in background is a result of the move... The new office is much more "live" and I'm working to pad it up!

I've got some recording for Brinvilliers coming too :)
Thanks and best!

Yay!! Another one in the database  Thanks again!

Sorry for my slow progress on Brinvilliers... My move is almost done and then I should be able to get back to my previous speed :)
