The Adventures of Mabel by Harry Peck (1856 - 1914).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found in the LibriVox catalog.

https://librivox.org/the-adventures-of-mabel-by-lyndon-orr/

This is a phantasy story about a little girl, 5-years old, who is the given the ability to converse with animals. (april6090)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/adventuresofmabe00peckrich#page/n13/mode/2up
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

This project is now set up in the database. Since this will be your first project as soloist/book coordinator(BC), you will need to set up a password for access to the workflow system so you can enter the information into the section compiler which then appears in the "Magic Window" in the top post. Here are some links to detailed instructions for logging into the system and setting a password the first time, as well as for entering and editing information in the section compiler.

First Time Logging in to the Workflow

Instructions for BCs and DPLs

A version of the above is also in the LibriVox wiki in case you can't access Google Docs for some reason.

BCs - How to Update the Magic Window

If you have any questions, let me know. Looking forward to working with you.

This is actually my 2nd solo. I do need the refresher "course" to do my best. If I do have any questions, I will ask you.

Hello,
I do have a question regarding musical notes, which I do not read. Can you help me out on that?
Also, since you are the mighty felix, can I address you as mf?
I did put the titles of the chapters in the mw.

Haha you can call me Devorah. Mightyfelix is just my login name.

I did skim through the first chapter, and I was wondering how you were planning to do that part. Can you whistle? I think that time was whistled by the lizard, wasn't it? I actually have a program that can generate a music file based on notes that you input. If you don't read music, I could create a little thing for you to listen to and then you can whistle the tune. Or, I can edit the file I create into your narration, if you don't want to whistle or hum or sing it yourself. Let me know if that would help.

Hello Devorah, which is a beautiful name, !
My whistling is definitely not top of the game :hmm: , so I can hum well enough I suppose. A sound file would be most helpful as I am willing to give it a try.

 I can whistle loudly with my fingers in my mouth though I am fairly certain that with little volume control that probably would not work. haha
I will record this chapter on Monday so thank you for the file.

Hello,
I did whistle the "line" and I will see what it sounds like when it is put together. I also hummed the line. :hmm:
Just to let you know how it is going.
