This week's poem can be found here.

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)

Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Winter Stars by Sara Teasdale, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
I went out at night alone;
The young blood flowing beyond the sea
Seemed to have drenched my spirit's wings—
I bore my sorrow heavily.
But when I lifted up my head
From shadows shaken on the snow,
I saw Orion in the east
Burn steadily as long ago.
From windows in my father's house,
Dreaming my dreams on winter nights,
I watched Orion as a girl
Above another city's lights.
Years go, dreams go, and youth goes too,
The world's heart breaks beneath its wars,
All things are changed, save in the east
The faithful beauty of the stars.

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: winterstars_teasdale_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. placeofburial_wordsworth_klh_128kb.mp3 )

Welcome to LibriVox tbird, good first reading :D There are just a couple of specs to correct, your volume is excellent, no background noise, but the file is in stereo and we need a mono file. The bitrate is 112 kbps (variable), we need 128 kbps (constant) for cataloging purposes.
If you are using Audacity, go to Edit / Preferences / Devices / Recording and choose from the Channels drop down (1) Mono. This should srtay the same for all future recordings.
The bitrate is set in File / Export Audio / Format Options (near the bottom) / Quality (choose 128 from the drop down) with the Stereo button selected.

Please ask if you need help with this. Please upload a new file using the same name as the original.

*Please let me know under what name would you like to appear in the LV catalog and if you have one, we can put your personal URL link on your catalog page too.

Perfect!!! Thank you!!!! I thought I had but it looks like I hadn't saved it properly on my second recording. I'm just trying to figure it all out. Thank you for the feedback as well:-) I had been playing around with a couple of old mics I had dug out. Much appreciated  :D

Here we go, try 2, changed to mono again and saved at 128kbps. Fingers crossed!

Also, just my username will be fine. TBird

Thanks tbird, but the file is still in stereo, with a bitrate of ~124 kbps (variable). A stereo file shows two waveform patterns in your recording software. A mono recording looks like this

Are you using Audacity for recording? The instructions I posted are for Audacity.
You can check your volume and other specs using our Checker program - see info at http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker Make sure you download the experimental version - you will find the volume and MP3 Format (bitrate) in the Information tab. For your information, we look for around 89 dB (87-91 is OK)
