Chronicles of America Volume 02: The Spanish Conquerors by Irving Berdine Richman (1861-1938).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-spanish-conquerors-by-irving-berdine-richman/
A discussion of the adventures of the Spanish explorers from Columbus to Pizarro
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/chroniclesameric02john
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    Magic Window:

"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Say:
"The Spanish Conquerors, by Irving Berdine Richman. [Chapter]"

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of The Spanish Conquerors by Irving Berdine Richman. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Only if applicable, say:
      "[Chapter title]"
    END of recording:
    • At the end of the section, say:
      "End of [Chapter]"
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • At the end of the book, say (in addition):
"End of The Spanish Conquerors by Irving Berdine Richman. "

There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
  • Example filename spanishconquerors##_richman_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. spanishconquerors_01_richman_128kb.mp3)

Yes and I think I have it right now. It is supposed to look like volume one which I have completed: The Red Man's Continent. And how do I get rid of the other two? Thanks for your help. I guess I need to get in touch with Tricia G or will she continue with this project?

I happen to be around and see this. :)

You made me work for this one - no number of sections, no date of the edition you're reading from... LOL!

Not sure if you need to (or if you want to) divide any chapters into parts. I've started you off with 6 sections.

You do not have a DPL lined up, correct?

Sorry. I only filled out the sections with an asterisk, but I am getting better, better than my previous set-ups, maybe--it's a journey, and I appreciate your patience. I am hoping Dave Craig is going to stick with me; that is, he PL'd the first one, and I asked if he would do this one, and he said he would be out of town for a while. I think he will. Thanks again for your help! 8-)

By the way, I had to change all the "explorers" to "conquerors" in the directives at the bottom. You might want to check me to see if I have done it correctly. Thanks so much. Jim
