Coffee Break Collection 14 - New Beginnings by Various ( - ).

This is the fourteenth collection of our "coffee break" series, involving public domain works that are between 3 and 15 minutes in length. These are great for study breaks, commutes, workouts, or any time you'd like to hear a whole story and only have a few minutes to devote to listening. The theme for this collection is "New Beginnings", where some kind of change or new start is significant. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry... we have them all. ( Lynne Thompson)

• 1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.

  Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The new (free) version 1.3.3. of Audacity has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.

I'm pretty new to LibriVox, and I'm trying to get started with PLing. May I PL this story? Or are you looking for a DPL for the entire collection? I don't think I'm quite ready to commit myself to something that large quite yet. I completely understand if you're hoping for a DPL to keep the standard consistent and would rather not have a one-off.

Hi Mindle (what a great name!)
Welcome to librivox! We have a shortage of proof listeners, so if that is your niche, great!
I do suggest you read http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?titl ... -listeners before you begin. And although a DPL would be great, starting slowly by PLing one or two sections is a great way to get started and would be a big help.
This project requires standard proof listening, so there is no need to read along with the text. You are listening for stumbles and repeats. Just post in this thread if you notice anything (with the time so the error can be quickly located and corrected) or if it is PL OK.

Section 3 is PL-OK! Perfectly done!

Betty:

On Section 4, I think you stopped a little early. There is the word "Envoi" in the text followed by 4 additional lines beginning with "I think I see that roach's home" and ending with "glum and gloom and gloam" If you will start with Envoi, and read through gloam, you'll have it all. (What you have recorded already is perfectly done!

Ok, I'll look into it....
