Prison Life in Andersonville by John Levi Maile (1844 - 0).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/prison-life-in-andersonville-by-john-levi-maile/
A firsthand account of the deplorable conditions within the most infamous prisoner-of-war camp of the Confederacy. Though functioning only during the last year of the Civil War, nearly 13,000 of 45,000 incarcerated Union soldiers died under inhumane conditions. ( Jeffery Smith)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/39584
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'll set this up or you.

edit: Let me know if anything needs fixing. I took the liberty of adding myself as DPL. If you have someone else in mind please let me know.

On the contrary, I was hoping that you would see the project and volunteer to work together with me on it!! Great news to start my day. I have to knock off a chapter in an Anatomy and Physiology book, and then I'll get started on this.
Great to hear from you again!

Hey Dave,

I need your advice on something. There are several narrative parts at the beginning of this book. I think I should probably include:

- the Commendation,
- the Dedication, and
- the Personal Forward
collectively as chapter 0.

What are your thoughts on this? This is the first book I've narrated with this much narrative before the first chapter.

Jeff,
It's entirely your call as to whether to include those sections. I would, as they seem to add materially to the narrative that follows. If you decide not to read them I can delete the extra section. You actually don't have to decide until it's time to catalog the book.

The author also has some long footnotes and quotes that do seem to add to the story, so I'm going to include the introductory stuff.

Thanks, Dave.

That's not a problem, Dave. I spent much of this month fooling around with microphones and plugin settings, so I'm running behind schedule. Be safe in your travels.
