Short Story Collection Vol 071 by Various ( - ).
This collection is for any short story in the English Language in the public domain, preferably less than 60 minutes. You are welcome to contribute as many as you wish, and there is no need to "sign-up" before recording as long as the work is clearly in the public domain.
Please ask here if the story was published after 1922 or if you are unsure for any other reason about its public domain status. Note that translations attract their own new copyright and must also have been published before 1923.
Multiple versions are always welcome, so you can record a story that has been recorded before. (If the same stories are submitted twice in the same collection, we will carry the second version over to the next collection) .
You may prefer to submit your recording to one of the other more specialized short story collections.
- There is no need to state your intention to record a story.
Just choose a Public Domain short story (under 60 minutes) in English and when you have recorded it, post it here. [/b]
This collection will remain open until we have 20 submissions.
- New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
- Where do I find the text? You can select any public domain short story. A good place to start is http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Category:Bookshelf
If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.[/b]
Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The new (free) version 1.3.3. of Audacity has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.

Thanks Lynne - I'm not doing too badly - walked 6 miles yesterday. Hope further repair work does not knock me back.

Section 1 "The Resident Patient" PL OK
Sounds good Peter! It does improve a little over the reading, but it is perfectly clear, and of course well read.
Glad your back

Many thanks Cheryl. I have another Conan Doyle more than half recorded. The more I'm using my voice the sooner it will hopefully become more controllable. It's strange to be having to re-learn how to speak properly. One of the problems is that it has made my left eye pretty useless so I have more difficulty in reading the scripts. I have to print out in 14 or 15 point bold letters to be able to read it. I suppose I am paying for my past sins ... I think the eye will be fine in a few weeks - hopefully.
