The Arabian Nights Entertainments Volume 3 by Anonymous. Translated by Dr. Jonathan Scott (1754 - 1829)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-arabian-nights-entertainments-volume-3-by-anonymous/
The third of four volumes of Middle Eastern tales, originally written in Arabic. Scheherazade tries to prolong her husband's interest in her - and therefore her life - by telling her tales in installments. ( Gillian Hendrie)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5666
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    ============================================
  • The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of The Arabian Nights Entertainments Vol 3, translated by Jonathan Scott. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"

      "[Chapter title]"
    END of recording:
    • At the end of the section, say:
      "End of [Chapter]"

    • At the end of the book, say (in addition):
"End of The Arabian Nights Entertainments Vol 3, translated by Jonathan Scott"

There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
  • Example filename arabiannights03_##_anonymous_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. arabiannights03_##_anonymous_128kb.mp3)

Hi Gill,
I see you've already done a solo, so you'll be familiar with how the MW works - let me know if you have any questions!

I've tweaked a few things in the first post, just for your information for future projects:
- the link to the gutenberg text, best to use the link to the central book page, least likely to change and gives people the chance to choose the version they want to read.
- something went wrong in the new project form: the translator's name was in the title field... don't know how that happened, but it left you with strange suggestions for the intro, filenames etc. So I've tweaked those, take a look. You can leave out the ID3 tags in your solo, I'll add those at time of cataloging.

Well, let's stay in the Launch Pad for a little while longer, perhaps a dedicated PL-er will come along! But you can start anytime. Have fun on this project!

Off to a good start! Let's move to the Going Solo forum, and I'll post an "ad" in the Listeners Wanted forum.

Welcome to the project, Nuria, thank you! I've added you as dedicated PL - that means that you get access to the MW, to enter any PL-notes etc. The wiki has some information on PL-ing in general - http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?titl ... -listeners - and on getting into the MW (you'll have to make yourself a new password for that): http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?titl ... gic_Window
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the links, everything was pretty intuitive concerning the MW.

I'm looking forward to the next sections :)
