Sections 9, 10, and 11 recorded; need to edit. Interesting to see a reference to my home town in the text!

Thanks, Todd

Bruce
Thanks again Bruce. PL OK.

Mencken's outraged prose is still fresh and contentious. A pleasure to listen to.

Section 6:

15:47
https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/americanlanguage_06_mencken_128kb.mp3

I spelled a few of the words in this section, such as cache, to distinguish them from their homophones, such as cash. Let me know if any changes are needed.

I thought it was interesting that this chapter mentions Ring W. Lardner, as I read an article of his not too long ago, entitled "What is 'The American Language'?": http://ia601502.us.archive.org/19/items/bookman_march_1921_1710_librivox/bookmanmarch1921_21_various_128kb.mp3

Thanks, Devorah, a nice clear reading. PL OK.

I enjoyed your Ring Lardner section on the personal pronoun and case confusion. It reminded me of Anita Loos and her air-head blonde gold-digger (in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes) who lamented: "A girl like I never gets to meet really interesting men. One’s brain gets to be starved.”

Thanks to Google, I learn that Loos adored Mencken but he preferred "a certain empty-headed blonde".
