Ozoplaning with the Wizard of Oz by Ruth Plumly Thompson (1891 - 1976).

Volunteers outside the USA: Ruth Plumly Thompson died in 1976. The author's work is still protected by copyright in places like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1955) or Canada (author's death plus 50 years), UNLESS the rule of shorter term applies.
The Wizard of Oz has built two beautiful "Ozoplanes" to explore Oz. But the official launch party goes wrong when the Soldier with the Green Whiskers accidentally launches the Oztober into the cloud country of Stratovania! The ruler, Strut of the Strat, makes Jellia Jamb his "Starina" and then sets off to conquer the fascinating country of Oz! Meanwhile the Wizard, Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow pile into the Ozpril and chase after the Oztober, but end up having an adventure of their own...

This is the 33rd book in the "Oz" series, following in the official canon after L. Frank Baum's original 14 books. The phrase "The Wizard of Oz" was included in the title to coincide with the 1939 release of the film The Wizard of Oz. The focus of the story is primarily on characters who appeared in "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz". (Summary by Beth Thomas)
This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/ozoplaning-with-the-wizard-of-oz-by-l-frank-baum/

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/55806
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Welcome! Yes, you can record Chapter 5. All the instructions you need should be in the first post. If you have any questions post here on the thread and I'll do my best to answer them.

In terms of your reader name, are you sure you want to go with "Aunt Ginga"? It sounds cute for a children's book but it might sound a bit odd if you decide to read serious non fiction or adult material. It's up to you, of course, but once you have read it into the audio file you can't change it. Your voice credit appears in all your work, you can't have more than one.

Chapters 2 and 3 beautifully read! I love your expression and pacing - really carries across the excitement of the story! I'll PL Ch 4 as soon as I can, but please consider reading more chapters of this book - your voice suits it so well!

Hi Jill! Chapter 4 is beautifully read, but there is just one repeat that needs to be removed:

At 3:26 repeat of "he lay still ... slow circle"

This phrase just needs to be cut, then re export and reupload using the same filename and I'll check it!
