Saxons in England, A History of the English Commonwealth to the Period of the Norman Conquest by John Mitchell Kemble (1807 - 1857).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/saxons-in-england-by-john-mitchell-kemble/
The following pages contain an account of the principles upon which the public and political life of our Anglosaxon forefathers was based, and the institutions in which those principles were most clearly manifested. The subject is a grave one: it is the history of the childhood of our own age--the explanation of its manhood. (from the Preface)

  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/saxonsinenglan01kemb and https://archive.org/details/saxonsinenglan02kemb/page/n4/mode/2up
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'll set up your MW tonight or tomorrow. I'm traveling right now and the broadband connection is slow.

Ok ok, time for a break, I recorded several hours of this, gonna hold off on more and just finish editing everything I have. Here's the intro for this work now, and later tonight, or tomorrow I'll edit chapter 1 of this and some other stuff in 'Norway'

I wanted to read the dedication page because it's a thank-you to Queen Victoria and then also included the title page with authors names and titles because why not. So here's that section, much more to come in the following week! I want to finish Norway this week if I can!

Thank you all so much for saving these and not opening it up, I will definitely still be finishing these!

Circumstances in my life allow for small bursts of productivity punctuated by long gaps of working at my job.

Back to work recording and editing, now!
