    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/worldsstoryhisto01tapp
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: special

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

This is the first book in a 15-volume series about the entire World History. Many sections here are very short, so I think it would be a great start for beginners, but there are also longer sections for our seasoned readers. This is not a dry history book but the excerpts that illustrate the World’s history, art and culture are all taken from literature, so I expect it will be fun.

We will start with the first volume and I seriously plan on doing them all. (fingers crossed I survive that long  )

Special notes for this project:

1) There are two stage plays (Sections 31 & 100) in this Volume which we will act out with a full cast. See MW for details and roles.

2) I would like to have the editor’s footnotes included, as they are very interesting in itself. Just put them after the sentence of the footnote marker, wherever you think it fits well. Say: “Footnote - [read footnote] - End of Footnote”.

3) Section 56 has some musical notes as example for Chinese music. I would like this section to be claimed by someone who reads music and could hum or “la-la” the tune where it appears.

4) I also decided to include the explanations to the illustrations, as they also present interesting facts about the history or culture of the country. Interested listeners can always check in the book to see the illustrations. Please check MW for details, how to read the title. (include the line "photograph, page xx")

5) As there are many very small sections, I will use the abbreviated disclaimer for those, like in the poetry projects, otherwise the intro is longer than the text proper. I'll note down in the MW where to read the long disclaimer. All sections under 3 pages long can use the short disclaimer.

This should be all. I will DPL this myself, as I am very interested to learn all about some of those countries I am not that familiar with so far.

As soon as I have my Magic Window complete, the project will be open for interested readers. :)

I was hoping you'd show up soon Eva :9: Thanks !

Oops, Eva, I just read the play more in detail, and I notice that the Lady and the Princess must be one and the same. Is it ok for you to play the entire role ?
