Also, I just noticed I was wrong on when LV will be down. It will be all day NEXT Wednesday, the 22nd. If you click on User Control Panel, at the top of your screen, you should see the notice.

Hiya,
I have fixed section 6. Here it is.
https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/mushroomsonthemoor_06_boreham_128kb.mp3
I will fix the stutters in 24 and 25 very soon. I can also lower the volume. I guess it was within the high end of being in range. As for the background noise, I sincerely don't hear any. All four were recorded in the same space with the same microphone. There was no fan or AC on. Can you describe the noise that you hear? If I can find it, I will gladly turn it down.
Thanks for finding those stutters!
Lillis

By lowering the volume on:
sect 25 Part III, Chapter VII: Lily
that will also reduce the background noise (a steady rush of air).

Hi Lillis and Helen. Thank you both!
Helen, I don't hear any background noise in section 24 or 25 either. Nor do I see any on the wave form when I open them in Audacity. I also ran these two sections through Checker, and it didn't flag either of them for volume or background noise. The volume on 24 is 89.1 and for 25 is 88.9, so these are actually just right as far as volume goes. Are you hearing anything similar in any other sections you've PLed recently? I wonder if something may have changed one or more settings on your computer, and that's causing some kind of interference?

sect 25 Part III, Chapter VII: Lily
PL OK
Note: I don't have a problem with anything else; all the other sections are fine. This must be a fluke.
Do you know a very simple way to use "checker"? Or Audacity? The instructions are confusing to me.

Hi Helen and Devoarah,
I have now clipped out the "I imagine" stutter from section 25 (Lily). Here is the edited version:
https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/mushroomsonthemoor_25_boreham_128kb.mp3
Also, I found the "unidentified sound" in Mistress of the Margin. Unfortunately I will have to re-record that small section because there is no fixing it digitally. I don't know what happened to the mic in that moment. Ah well. I don't have access to my recording equipment at the moment, but will have it up asap.
Thanks!
Lillis

Helen, I wouldn't worry about Audacity if I were you, unless you want to become a reader as well as PLer. I chose to open those files in Audacity because, over time, it's become easy for me to look at a wave form and see whether there's background noise, even if I can't hear it.
Checker, however, is quite easy to use. To clarify--have you been able to install it, and now that you have it, you don't know what to do with it? Or did you run into problems trying to install? If that's the case and you want to try it again, I went ahead and grabbed the link for you: https://cgjennings.ca/checker.html I use Windows, so I just clicked the "download for Windows" thingy on that page and it pretty much installs itself. If you have another system, I may not be much use.
Once you've got it, download the file you want to check to some temporary place on your computer (I just put them on my desktop). Then open Checker. Drag and drop the file you want to check into the Checker window. There are two tabs in Checker. They are labeled "Validation" and "Information". "Validation" tells you whether or not the file passes, and if not, why not. "Information" gives you more detailed info about the file, such as the length and the average volume.
After I'm done checking the file, I just drag it into my Recycle Bin.
I hope that helped?

Hiya!
So here is the fixed "Mistress of the Margin!"
https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/mushroomsonthemoor_24_boreham_128kb.mp3
May I now claim a couple more sections? I would like to do 11, 12, and 13. That's "The Handicap" "Gog and Magog" and "My Wardrobe."
Thanks!
Lillis
