A couple of technical items in Section 25. The reading was word perfect and nicely done.
1. The checker showed that the file was too loud. It tested at 93.1 db. The target is 89 db +/- 3 db. Use the amplify effect in audacity to reduce the level of the file.
2. At the end of the file, the silence should be about 5 seconds. It is over 8.
I enjoyed listening to your reading.
Many thanks,
Philip

Thank you. Shortened the end to 5 seconds.
I was messing with the levels on my last recording and I think I did something wrong. This one should be better but I couldn't find the link for the decible tester. Hopefully, this one is closer to the mark.

Thank you. Did you re-record it? That is rarely necessary and creates extra work for the PL.AnomolousZipf wrote:DrPGould wrote:

No. Luckily, I hadn't saved the compression and amplification I had been experimenting with, so when I reopened the mp3 in Audacity it was at the original levels. So I just re-uploaded the un-amplified version. ^_^DrPGould wrote:

Section 25 is now PL-OK. The new upload had the same technical deficiencies as the original file--but I had a few spare minutes between meetings and so I went ahead and cleaned it up. I've also adjusted the file length in the MW to 24:39.
The link for the checker is http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker
My set up is such that I tend to run a little under the required levels...so I've just gotten in the habit of running the checker on all my files and then use the amplify effect in audacity to adjust the levels to where they need to be before I submit them. Others have other ways of doing that. There are several articles on the Wiki with regard to this, and several videos as well.
Many thanks,
Philip
