Section 09 uploaded. 11 minutes and 50 seconds. The book resembles in style the works of Sax Rohmer and Edgar Wallace which I used to borrow from my grandmother's bookcase.

Susannah:

Nice reading of Section 10 and Welcome to Librivox! I have a few notes:

There appears to be considerable background noise running the entire length of the file. If you will run the noise reduction utility in audacity, that should clear it right up. The noise competes with your voice for the hearer's attention.

There are, in addition, a few bobbles which need to be cleared up:

at 1:58 "of the illicit relationship"
at 4:21 "although I have been"
at 7:01 "Ahtka-Ra"
at 9:04 "to counteract."
at 10:30 "and the child of Lord Consinor"
at 12:40 "Egyptian history"
at 12:49 "Nitacris"

In addition as Lynne as noted: when you re-upload your file, please be sure the file name is formatted as follows:

lastegyptian_##_baum_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. lastegyptian_01_baum_128kb.mp3)

Many thanks for your reading!

Hi and welcome to Librivox.
I have added you to the catalog and assigned that chapter to you. If you click on your name in the Magic Window, you will be taken to your personal catalog page. If you'd rather be entered under your real name, just let me know and it is easily changed.

Ian:

Pl Notes for Section 11:

There seems to be a considerable amount of background noise in the file. Especially in the first 1/3 of the reading, it competes with your voice. Please run the noise reduction effect in Audacity. That should clear it right up-then re upload the file.

This is a suggestion for future recording...not a reason to record this particular file. Your plosives (the 'p' sound) in many places seem to explode right into the microphone--I have this problem myself sometimes. To fix it--adjust the microphone to where it is just above or just below your mouth--so that the plosives do not go directly into it, but you still get the sound.

Those things said--the file was read very nicely...word perfect, in fact. Nicely done.

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to help--just ask.

Many thanks for your reading.

Hi and welcome to Librivox!
There are a few things to do before you get started.
If you haven't already done so, you will need to complete a one minute test - this is to check your specs are up to Librivox standards, and if not, you'll be given hints on how to remedy that. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test
Please post your test in the Listeners Wanted forum (see the dropdown at the bottom of the page) for the speediest response. Waiting for the OK may seem tedious, but can save time in the long run.
You will also need to be added to the catalog of readers. I have added you using your forum name, but if you prefer your real name or a pseudonym let me know. We can also link to a personal blog or website. If you click on your name in the Magic Window, you will see your own personal catalog page.
Be sure to read the first post - all the info you need is there, but if anything doesn't make sense, just ask. The wiki (see the top of the page) has bundles of info too.
