Praise received for Carolin (Crln Yldz Ksr) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

I would like to thank the reader whose forum name is Carolin. I have listened to most of the stories narrated by her (Richard Harding Davis, Anna Katherine Green etc). She is one of my favourite readers, as her voice is so clear and precise which makes for very easy listening especially as I am hard of hearing.

So thank you Carolin I do so appreciate the work you do for Librivox.

Regards Esther

Praise received for GlassMask (Ted Delorme) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

I'd like to extend my sincerest thanks to Ted Delorme for recording multiple volumes of Robert. G. Ingersoll's works. I heard of Robert Ingersoll at a time when I had about two hours of commute time a day, so finding audio options were—if you'll forgive the word choice—a godsend. Mr. Delorme's voice and elocution were perfectly suited to the material, and just as one often connects a famous person from history with the actor who played him (or her), so will the words of Mr. Ingersoll always sound most correct to my ears when the voice is Mr. Delorme's.

Praise received for Delmar H Dolbier (Delmar H Dolbier) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

I just finished listening to “The Mystery Of Cloomber” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Mr. Dolbier’s reading – the use of many, many dialects from the Scottish countryside – was in a word, masterful. I listen to Librivox books while I am exercising, so over a period of about three weeks, I actually looked forward to exercising in order to listen to Mr. Dolbier.

Thank you so much, sir.

To Brad Powers
Book read: Phantastes by George MacDonald

Hey Brad... You have a wonderful, clear voice. You read well and you reflect the emotion of the story as it is told. Thanks for reading Phantastes. I've enjoyed it immensely, partly due to your reading of the story.

Praise received for rachelellen (rachelellen) from our 'Thank a reader' feature regarding her reading of O Pioneers!:

This was such a pleasure to listen to. Cather’s visually descriptive text was read flawlessly by rachelellen. The voice changes for different characters is a technique that can be distracting (not in a good way), but this reading was done subtly and simply with a richness that Ms Cather’s writing deserves. Thank you.

Praise received for Mermaid (Mil Nicholson) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

I am an addict and heavy user of Librivox. I have listened to many, many readers and have my favorites. You are by far my favorite. You are quite accomplished; Iam sure you must have had a life-long career on stage. I thank you for making your much appreciated contribution. I finished Nicolas Nickelby a few months ago and, when I finished, I was sad that I would have to do without you. But then I just downloaded Little Dorrit, and there you are again! I am delighted.

Though I do enjoy listening, I am distracted by mispronunciations. I have never heard a mispronunciation from you, though. You understand emphasis; you are versatile in pitch and speed and you rivet my interest. You master any character whether male or female, villain or hero, sophisticate or low-life.

Thank you for your masterly execution.

Praise received for Peter Why (Peter Yearsley) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

Your reading of "Three Men on the Bummel" made the book all the more enjoyable because of all the expression you put into it. Loved your sheep; expressive but not exaggerated. And you took care over the German pronunciation; Jerome would have approved.

Praise received for Hokuspokus (Hokuspokus) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

Dear Hokus Pokus,

I've been listening to Das Tier im Walde and felt ashamed of myself for not getting around to thanking you for your wonderful readings. By now I recognize your voice instantly when I start to listen. Also, it's not just your readings that are fine, it's also your selection of texts. At my age (76), I am pretty choosy about what I read or listen to, and you solve that problem for me by locating excellent texts.

No need to reply. I just wanted to make sure someone thanked you today.

Your,

Paul

Praise received for Rainbow (Robin Cotter) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

Just a note to let you know my 10-year-old son has thoroughly enjoyed listening to you read “King Arthur and His Knights.”

I was wondering what was taking him so long to finish this audiobook (our first time to use librivox). His sister told on him and said that he had finished it long ago, but just kept listening to it over and over.

Money is tight. So thank you doing this since there are only a few child-friendly audio books at our local library. I think my son is actually reading better after having listened to this book. (a recommendation from a reading specialist we couldn’t afford to see, but she gave us free ideas to help him.)

You have really touched our lives!

Thanks Again,

Jessica

Praise received for TriciaG (TriciaG) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

Hello TrishaG,

I have wanted to let you know how much I enjoy listening to the books you’ve recorded.
For several years I've listened, and re-listened, to the Pansy books, as well as Grace Livingston Hill.
Fortunately, if I wait a year after I’ve listened to a book, I forget some
of the details of the book. So when I listen the next time, it’s enjoyable all over again.
Those stories are such a treat to me, and your voice has such a pleasant and honest cadence to it.

I listen mostly around home here. My husband and I live quiet lives, since he is not well.
I look forward to listening each day, while I’m doing dishes and household chores.

Thank you, thank you, for ALL the time and energy you’ve put into the recordings.
It can’t always be easy, but it is such a gift.

Sincerely, Emma142

Praise received for johng (John Greenman) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

Dear Mr. John Greenman

Hi! My name is Rebekah I’m in 10th grade and I’m homeschooled. Thank you so much for narrating The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I loved listening to you narrate because you put so much emotion into the book and it’s so amazing how great you are at reading this challenging book. It’s hard for me to understand what I’ve read so listening to you made me enjoy this book so much more.

Thanks again,
Rebekah

Praise received for RebeccaD (Rebecca Dittman) from our 'Thank a reader' feature:

Dear Rebecca,

Thank you for giving us the pleasure of listening to your version of “The War of the Worlds”. My wife and I enjoyed it a couple of summers ago while travelling and it made the time pass quickly indeed. Although we both admired your performance, best intentions and all, when we got home the business of life took over and I did nothing at the time to acknowledge your work. A recent link off of Wikipedia brought me back to LibriVox and, noticing the “Thank a Reader” link, I decided to make amends.

Your voice has wonderful tonal qualities (not to offend, but I thought you sounded a bit like Roddy McDowell) and your delivery and annunciation was even and clear without seeming either wooden or disinterested. Your expression was youthful and tinged with innocence without sounding naïve, which perfectly suited the narrator and his/her perspective. Although I was familiar with the story you gave me an opportunity to experience in a different way, and you opened my wife’s eyes to the joy of classic science fiction. I recognise that your reading was recorded over ten years ago and that your life has probably moved in a different direction since then, but you have donated a wonderful gift with your time, energy, and ability that everyone can share in, and I would like to recognize how special you are. Thank you very much.
