[COMPLETE] The Life Triumphant by James Allen - tg
Dear Tricia, Dave
Thank you both for your patience and understanding, I am now ready to resume.
Please find the updated foreword: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/lifetriumphant_00_allen_128kbps.mp3
I implemented of all of PL's previous comments i.e.
- Silence at beginning of file should be <1s,
- Volume is low and should be amplified by 5dB,
I'm holding thumbs that this version of the Foreword makes the cut.
Looking forward to your feedback!

Thanks for the feedback Dave!
I have uploaded the -2db version and updated the magic window. Please check and see if the sound is good now.
Just a question for future uploads: How do I determine the db's on a track. I tried searching for a setting to do so but have not been successful. I'm using audacity on a Windows OS.
Thanks for your help!

2 PL OK.
Determining volume level
Use the instructions below to install the plugin ReplayGain into Audacity.
- Click this link,
http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=4685
and save the file to your computer - somewhere you can find it.
- Then go to the folder in which Audacity is installed (on my computer, it's in C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity) and open the Plug-Ins folder.
- Drag or copy the file you saved into the Plug-Ins folder.
- The next time you start up Audacity go to Effects/ReplayGain* and it'll tell you how much you can amplify your file. If you highlight part of the file it will tell you how much you can amplify just that part of the file. It does not give you the exact dB of the file but it can be inferred from how much it tells you to amplify.
*If you do not see the plugin (near the bottom of the Effect dropdown menu), then at the very top of the Effect menu click on Add/Remove Plugins. You may need to "enable" the plugin. Once enabled restart Audacity and look for the plugin in the Effect dropdown menu.
Another useful program is Mp3Gain. It gives you actual dB levels for the audio file and it can also analyze multiple files (e.g. an entire book). It is a separate program independent from Audacity and is available free at the following link:
http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php
Clipping
Always use Audacity (Effect/Amplify) to change the volume of the file. If clipping occurs and prevents amplification you will need to use Effect/Compressor to remove the peaks in the audio waveform so that you can amplify the file. Watch the video below.

If this seems a bit overwhelming start by installing Mp3Gain so you know the dB value of your file. Then amplify using Audacity.

Dear Tricia
Yes I am! Sorry for my sudden silence; work peaked since my last submission and has kept me quite busy at bay.
I will start submitting again in November. I can make a personal commitment that I'll be done by mid-December as I'll have a gap in this period.
Sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you very much for your patience. James Allen's works mean a lot to me and I've been listening to Andrea Fiore's James recordings of Allen's books for years now and felt it important to give back by doing this book which has not been done yet.
I can commit to finish the project by mid-December but I will start making submissions as soon as possible from around end October/early November.
Is this okay with you Tricia and PL DaveC?
