I agree, Hardy is really a great poetry writer :9: it's a wonder he became more famous for his novels.

And here is my last for this month, a shorty by Anonymous:

Hello Rapunzelina,

I have a scary batch for Halloween! In a couple of places there are typos, but I've read what I think made the most sense. I'm sorry these are all long this month!

'The Messenger of Death' by John Stagg (1770-1823)
Text: https://archive.org/details/minstrelofnortho00stagrich (p. 112)
Duration: 8.07
MP3: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc173_messengerdeath_el_128kb.mp3

'The White Woman' by John Stagg (1770-1823)
Text: https://archive.org/details/minstrelofnortho00stagrich (p. 118)
Duration: 6.35
MP3: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc173_whitewoman_el_128kb.mp3

'The Vampyre' by John Stagg (1770-1823)
Text: https://archive.org/details/minstrelofnortho00stagrich (p. 228)
Duration: 13.30
MP3: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc173_vampyre_el_128kb.mp3

This author is new to the catalogue (I'm hitting you with a lot in one month - I'm sorry!). His Wikipedia page is at:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stagg_(poet)

To summarise his entry: John Stagg was a Cumberland poet known as the 'blind bard'. His wrote dialect poems and gothic narrative verse and is best known for 'The Vampyre'.

Rapunzelina,

You're very kind! You juggle lots of projects, so I'm trying not to give you a lot to listen to *and* new authors to add to the database *and* do it late in the month. If everybody did that you'd never finish cataloguing each collection. You're a volunteer just like everybody else, so I'd rather not give you loads of time-consuming stuff all at once!
