Autumn's Gold by George MacDonald (1824 - 1905).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/autumns-gold-by-george-macdonald/

Quote:
George MacDonald was a Scottish author, poet, and Christian minister. He was a pioneering figure in the field of fantasy literature and the mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. His writings have been cited as a major literary influence by many notable authors including W. H. Auden, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Walter de la Mare, E. Nesbit and Madeleine L'Engle. ( Wikipedia)

Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This week's poem can be found here.

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Quote:
Autumn's Gold by George MacDonald, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]

Then read the poem:

Quote:
Along the tops of all the yellow trees,
The golden-yellow trees, the sunshine lies;
And where the leaves are gone, long rays surprise
Lone depths of thicket with their brightnesses;
And through the woods, all waste of many a breeze,
Cometh more joy of light for Poet's eyes—
Green fields lying yellow underneath the skies,
And shining houses and blue distances.
By the roadside, like rocks of golden ore
That make the western river-beds so bright,
The briar and the furze are all alight!
Perhaps the year will be so fair no more,
But now the fallen, falling leaves are gay,
And autumn old has shone into a Day!

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
Quote:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: autumnsgold_macdonald_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. autumnsgold_macdonald_klh_128kb.mp3 )

[b]ID3 tags (Version 2.30):
ID Tags are completed during Cataloging

Ciao David,

Here is my contribution. I'm sorry, the recording is on the lower side (86.6 dB), but still accepted by the 'Checker'. I did the recording this afternoon and the noise in and around the house was clearly audible. I didn't dare to amplify more, since I'd also have amplified the noise. Please just let me know if it's not okay like this.

Thank you very much, it's a beautiful poem full of autumnal atmosphere.

Claudia

David-

A strong wind this past week took down many of our leaves, but there are still a few pretty trees around town.
