Elective Affinities by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832).

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/elective-affinities-by-johann-wolfgang-von-goethe/
Elective Affinities (Die Wahlverwandtschaften) was Goethe's third novel. It depicts human relationships in a Romantic crucible, and is the sourcebook and inspiration for many literary and filmic adaptations and variations. ( Nicole Lee)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/cu31924062545433
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Nicole,

we have a little problem with your textlink since it doesn't show any copyright notice anywhere... Is it possible to find another edition that clearly shows a publication date?
Cheers, Ava.

Nicole,

There is no problem with the dates for Goethe (Johann Wolfgang von, 1749-1832), but we don't know the translator or the date of publication for the source you selected.

Project Gutenberg has a version inside "The German Classics".
http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/11366

Archive has another version with a clear copyright.

There is a difference in the forwards and introductions.

I'd like to MC and PL this! Nicole, are you OK with reading from another source? Either one of Dave's suggestions will do. It's a different translation for sure, but it's safer for Librivox.

hi Rapunzelina

here's the introduction and chapter 1. So far, Edward and Charlotte are coming across as rather comically Germanic!
