It was a bit off how the dark power worded things.

Yikes, you need a bigger dog than my Papillon. Petey is seven pounds. There's an outside cat here, black and friendly. It loves dogs. When any of us are out walking it runs up and wants to play.

I was considering taking it in. Then I watched it fly up a tree, all nails scrabbling the bark, to catch a bird. Nope. I like my little dog and my furniture.

The rosebud on your butt must be as bad as the toilet paper trailing your shoe. Hmmm. Everyone is dreaming of flowers and trees, and the ultimate evil power manifested itself as a tree-thing. Wonder if there could be a connection? Gladys had better watch out.

My wife would be more amenable to an adorable little papillon than something bigger than my cat. My cat is a pretty good pal and hangs around me a lot, but push comes to shove, I don't think she'd go warn someone I was in the well. She'd just wait for me to die and eat me. What's that, Petey? Dawn is in a well? Show us the way.

LOL. Petey is a bat buster. Two times he has saved me from a bat in my apartment :!:
The last one flew at the managers wife, so they sealed the place. Will tell the story when I'm
Not on kindle. Pete's a hero...

Sounds like Gladys is fantastic, literally a figment of our young artist's imagination, a fantasy. I wonder what he would say should he see her in the morning. She had better be tougher than he thinks she is to cope with Hamar.

What we call pencil pushers they used to call pen drivers. I love it when an author lets us see details of how life was lived in another time or place.

It's fun to see Gladys manage the men. I think she has more mettle than they give her credit for. If he thinks she will fawn over him, he's bound for disappointment.

I love those small details of past times too. What they ate surprises me often.

Don't know how Gladys is going to handle Hamar. Maybe her extreme virtue will overcome his extreme evil. We've got to get her to quit thinking she needs a man to get her out of trouble. She's pretty tough.

Flies: It is interesting that most people's first choice for a super power is to fly, much as it seems to have been then. I learned that the "fly" is the part of the theater way backstage where all the ropes and weights that raise and lower screens and things reside. Back where the villain sabotages a weight so it falls on his unsuspecting victim. Or where the hero grapples with the villain until the villain catches his foot in a rope and he is dashed to his death in the machinery.

Section 13 has a repeat.
At 15:10 as a matter of fact, airships and airplanes...
15:19 repeated.

That concoction they brewed with ounces of Opium and Poppy Seeds would send anyone
to the astral plane. Yikes.

There's a scene in a Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode like that. It involves a ventriloquist dummy that comes to life. Big ropes on pulleys, dark corners and rickety overhead walkways. Buffy is completely different from most of what I watch but I've seen all the episodes several times and go back to see my favorites often. It's so funny sometimes.

Repaired and reloaded. The cat was involved, and I forgot to tap the mic. Or I went to sleep. Or I was dreaming of Italy.

I've been watching some things on gravity on Amazon TV, also on time. I may never get my mind around the whole gravity-time-space thing. Except there's less gravity back in my old home town in the mountains, so I should only weigh myself when we visit there.

All PL OKAY.

Most listeners like the background sounds. I like birds, cars, cats and dogs.

Maybe we should insist on going to Pikes Peak in Colorado to be weighed. :? This last year I have spent more on groceries and gotten things I like. Avocados, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers and such. I'm down 29 pounds.

I went back several times to see the great pictures of the vacation you two took. What a wonderful time you had.

I don't think our three protagonists should trust the Unknown at all. What suckers! They don't have a chance, since it is clear Mr. Unknown is playing with them before it squishes them. There was a clue hidden in one of these chapters to what will prevail against them and their boss--someone with no perverse inclinations and the soul of virtue--Gladys. It's like the suffragette said, the men will screw it up, but the women will take care of business.

Things are kind of tense in California right now. October is always our hot, dry fire danger month. The winds which normally blow from the ocean get reversed by high pressure systems and blow from the east. In the wine country, which is being devastated right now by a dozen fires, they call this hot east wind the devil wind. Here it comes directly off the desert, and we call it the Santa Ana wind. We had a lot of rain last winter, which ended our drought, but it also produced an abundance of new vegetation, which dries out in the fall, and then with the east winds blowing, all it takes is lightning, a cigarette, or a stupid camper, and we get wild fires that can burn from the desert to the coast, as it did here several years back. Thousands of homes burned, and a half million people evacuated to places like the stadium, churches, etc. We lucked out, but we had our stuff in the cars ready to leave if needed. We could see the flames along the ridge to the south of us. It looks like the fires burning now are going to be even more destructive. My wife's brother lives in Santa Rosa, but has escaped danger so far. Her mother in San Rafael is suffering from the smoke and ash, as she has breathing problems. Suffice it so say we are always on alert this time of year, because it could easily be us next week. Keep your fingers crossed.

I'd much rather endure an earthquake for thirty seconds every few years than this yearly chance of being burned out.

I was very happy to hear you are all okay. So much fire and devastation near you.
The news has been full of stories. I have been praying for everyone there.

It's good here. The rain left the fields muddy and delayed harvest. Now the farmers are going late into the night. Half the soybeans are done and some are starting sugar beets. Corn can wait a bit. We've had a hard frost and got down to 33 degrees. Back to 70's today. Typical fall.

Stay safe.

I still say the only person pure enough in her motives to thwart the Great Unknown is Gladys. This story seems to have revealed the worst in everyone else.

I am glad you and Petey are doing OK. I remember fall used to be my favorite season when I lived where there were four of them. Crunchy leaves and nippy air and stuff. I'd love some nippy air about now. It's still hot and dry as we approach November. The wet winter produced a surplus of rodents and things therelike, and now we are beginning to see coyotes coming into the neighborhood checking the back yards for snack sized cats and dogs. Our cats don't go out. It saves the cats and the songbirds. Adds atmosphere to my recordings.

Et Finis!

Looks like O'Donnell kind of threw Lillian under the bus to make things neat and tidy. She deserved better for her pluck.

I hope you feel better. Don't worry about the DPLing. I'm in no hurry.

So far Gladys is holding her own. Even though she agreed to be his fiancee.
She refused to see him, claiming that she was ill. Up to something I think.

Good thing you keep your kitties inside. They are a small snack. We see a lot
of Fox and the occasional Bobcat or Cougar. I saw huge Cougar tracks my
first winter out here. Right next to the building. Opened my blind in the
morning and looked right down at them.

We barely had a fall. It's 19 degrees and wind right now. I just love the cold
weather. We've had snow three times. The last one has stuck, so the ground
is white with green grass sticking up.

Take care.
