The pussycat princess by Edward Anthony (1895 - 1971).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-pussycat-princess-by-edward-anthony/

Volunteers outside the USA: Edward Anthony died in 1971. His/Her work is still protected by copyright in places, like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1954) or Canada (author's death plus 50 years).
This pussycat is out to have some adventurous fun in this enjoyable fairy tale for boys, girls and parents. ( Lynda Marie Neilson)
  1. Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/pussycatprincess00anth
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Lynda - FYI, this is still in copyright in Canada, so you'd be breaking Canada copyright law by recording it. (We can do authors who died in 1966 and earlier.)

You could record this if you went across the border and recorded it there, but not from your living room. :?

Funny enough, I will be in Maui when I will be recording this :)

I was looking for something that I can record while on vacation so this will work out just perfectly!

As I mentioned in a PM to Carolin to ask about recording this, I will be there for 3 weeks in October and think I will have enough time. If not I regularly go to the USA to visit my best friend in Seattle so I could finish the recordings there.

I guess I should not mention I am from Vancouver when doing my recordings then...

Thanks for catching this!

Perfect!

I won't be MC'ing since it's not PD for me. :)

That is too bad Tricia - I really enjoyed working with you!

Thanks also for the information I need to look for in terms of authors dates of death - I was not aware of that. Is there anything else I should be aware of as a Canadian recording while I Canada? Obviously if I pick works that you are MC'ing then they will be okay, however when picking other works to record, other than date of death is the date of publication the same? I thought it was and that was what I was watching.

Nothing else special for Canada. If it's PD in the US (convoluted rules, but generally published before 1923), it's OK for LibriVox. If the author and translator (if applicable) died after 1966 when we're in 2017 (a full 50 years, so Jan 1/18 it'll be a death date of 1967, etc.), then it's PD in Canada.

OK, Your MW is set up.

You'll need to start by logging into the magic window. Instructions are in the BC How-to; and this is a more detailed version of the First Login instructions (with pictures!)

For a solo project, you are the Book Coordinator. That means you fill out the Magic Window and post your links and times in the window when you upload your files. You'll need to start by entering section (or chapter) titles. I've put in the first couple to get you started.

Please be sure to read all of the BC How To document, as that will give you more information on your role as a BC.

If you have questions, or if you have any trouble with the instructions in the BC how to, please post and we'll work through it together. There is a bit of a learning curve when you do your first solo. You've picked a nice size book - not too long and something that you are interested in, so it should be a manageable and enjoyable process for you.

Yes please!

I am going to be recording the book from October 8th until October 29th. As I am Canadian, I cannot record it when at home. I will be doing the recording when I am on vacation in the USA (Maui). I can also do the editing when I visit my friend who lives in Seattle, who I visit about once a month.

Just do not want to break any copyright laws...

So if this fits your schedule I would be more than happy to have you DPL for me Helen! Thanks so much!

Hi Helen -

I am now in the USA visiting my friend - here are my first recordings - I have a new mic so I just tried out some small ones so I could get used to it.
