and my last one for this collection, found it as prologue to a novel.

What lover best by Helen Hunt Jackson (1830-1885) - Gutenberg names her as the author, even though the book itself says Anonymous. Can we trust Gutenberg in this ? :hmm:

Yes, since it says that it's by the author of “MERCY PHILBRICK’S CHOICE.”
I'm inclined to believe that the "By Anonymous" part was mistakenly added to the gutenberg text. This is a scan of the 1877 edition https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=njp.32101067647147;view=1up;seq=11

Anyway, the recording is PL OK and currently being added to the MW!
Thank you, Sonia!

Rapunzelina-

One more for this month, a little happier than the first two-

My Own Heart by Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844-1889)
Text URL: http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/22403/pg22403-images.html
Duration: 1:15
MP3 URL: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc172_myownheart_ps_128kb.mp3

Hopkins poems are a bit odd. Never figured out what a betweenpie was. The poem isn't titled in the Gutenberg version and can be most easily found by searching for "My own heart", the beginning words of the poem.

I can't find biographical information for Louise Brooks - I hope that's not a problem.
Thanks and regards,
