McLoughlin and old Oregon; a chronicle
by Dye, Eva Emery, 1855-1947

this is kind of a novel and history rolled into one. it has precise historical observations telling the story of the united states in the 1830s and 1840s, and it has embellished dialogue. interesting stuff, might make history accessible to some who wouldnt otherwise read a history book.
