Hi Sarah,

As this is your first recording, we need to know 'under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog'. Your catalog name can be your real name or anything. A lot of us use our real names so our friends can find us but it is up to you. Ask if anything is confusing.
I don't have a website yet :-) maybe someday. My real name will do fine - Sarah Jump
So, is that a go on this poem?
Sarah
Yep Sarah, that is a GO. Ask if you have questions. Jordan will be by shortly to add you to the Magic Window and I will make your catalog name as you requested.

Hi Jordan,

Thanks for your feedback. I didn't realize how low the volume was since I had cranked up my vol while listening to it. I've gone ahead and amplified it. Please let me know if the volume is alright now. I don't know yet how or where to get the db level of the recording. This is just my 2nd recording. I'm learning as I go.

Please find below the link to the amplified version of my recording of section #224 - The Stone rejected.

Hi heart2voice. Are you using Audacity? I have a little video showing how to get a good idea of volume just using your eyes. It isn't new but it still is valid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9WF82rf81o

I also have a video that explains some of our jargon and stuff called Gettting To Know Our Forums http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnxpcbnEjoQ&feature=youtu.be

these may be old to you but they might help a bit. Ask any questions, OK? And thanks for volunteering here. :D

Thanks so much Phil. I really appreciate it. Yes, I'm using Audacity. I will certainly take a look at the videos. I'm sure they will be very helpful.

Hi Heart,

Here are your notes:

0:00: The opening silence is too long. It should be no longer than 1 second, and you're at about 1.5.
0:26: 'of an uncompromising material' should be 'of unpromising material'
1:06: 'wayward' should be 'wayside'
2:03: The ending silence is too short. You should be aiming for 5 seconds, and you've got about 3.3.

And while I'm updating, I should note that I'm going to be on holiday from tomorrow to the 26th, and as such, will not be able to do any PLing for that time period.

159 and 161 are PL OK.

As for 119:

The volume is too low. You should be aiming for 89 dB, and you're at 85.9
2:16: The ending silence is too long. You should be aiming for 5 seconds, and you've got 6.2

Hello,

Here is my recording of #143 One Fight More. (1:25)

https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/itcanbedone_143_various_128kb.mp3

Appreciate any feedback.

If there is any technical fixes that need to be made (like if it's too loud or too quiet) please help me with a link for a tutorial or instructions on how to fix it.

Thank you
Sarah

Most are PL OK, but there are some notes:

Secion 67:

1:54: 'What I think of true men' should be 'What I think is true of men'

Section 189:

0:55: 'places' should be 'spaces'

Its length is 2:08.

Thank you in advance
Hi Alec,

Here are your notes:

Volume is too low. You're at 81.8 dB, and you should be at about 89. I'd amplify as much as it lets you without clipping (about 6.6)

There is a noticeable amount of background noise. You should look up how to do noise reduction.

0:00: Opening silence is too long. It should be no longer than 1 second, and you've got more than 2 seconds.
Here is the new file, with edits:

Thank you :D

Hi Dave and a big welcome to LibriVox! :D I have assigned that section to you but before you record it, please make and upload a 1 minute test to be sure your recording set up is OK. Instructions can be found in our Wiki and in the first post of this project but Here is a video that may help too: How to Make your 1 minute test.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlaRY_-bcfs and then How to Upload your 1 minute test How to Upload your 1 minute test

Dave please tell me what is the section number of Life? I need that to assign it to you.

(You may post the link to your test in this forum and I will see it much more quickly)

I also recommend Getting To Know our Forums Getting To Know Our Forums

We just want to check out your technical specs. Don't forget to post the link either in this thread or in Listeners WAnted forum. And how would you like to be credited in our catalog? What name? most of us use our real name but it is up to you.
