I would be interested in taking on The Good Part if it is still available! I have posted my 1-minute-read (no responses so far, though!), but let me know if there's anything else I need to do before I get started. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to librivox!

You are welcome to read that poem. To be able to sign you up, i need to know under which name or pseudonym you would like to appear in the catalog. We can also link to your personal website or blog.

Please just wait for feedback on your test before getting started. Thanks!

Aw, what the heck I just posted section 2 also. Hopefully, it's acceptable and you're good to go.

Gary, some PL notes on both of your recordings:

Section 8, The Warning: Your intro does not match the instructions for the abbreviated "LibriVox disclaimer". It should be: "[Poem title], by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, read for LibriVox.org" by [your name] or some variation on that, adding date, location, your personal URL, etc., if you wish.

In addition, the poem you read here is actually Section 2, The Slave's Dream.

I could not PL your section 2, as all I get when I try to download it is a 404 error message. I’m assuming that may be becuase the file extension does not show a mp3 designation?

Maybe you could upload both files again making sure the file numbers match the correct poem and the file extensions are correct.

Thank you!

I have finished recording section 3, The Good Part. The length of the recording is 1:39. This is my first official recording (unless the one-minute test counts!), so it's possible that it's not perfect. Please let me know if I need to fix anything!

Hi Joelee, welcome to LibriVox and congrats on your first recording!

Everything sounded good, all of your tech stuff was in line, and it was a very nice recording of the poem!

This is PL OK

Thanks,

Gary, still need some work on these.

Section 8: The volume on this is high at 93.5 dbs. Please deamplify by about -4.0.

The ending of the recording is not quite as right as it should be: At the end, say: "End of poem. This recording is in the public domain." and leave five seconds of silence. Instead of saying “End of poem”, you said “End of The Warning”. Let’s let this go for this recording, but please watch this for future recording.

In addition, since this is the last poem in the book, you also needed to include the following: At the end of the book, say (in addition):
"End of Poems on Slavery by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.

All of this is included in the directions at the beginning of each project, but the requirements change depending on whether it is a book of poems, essays or longer works so it’s a good idea for each project to take a good look at these before you start.

Section 2: I can download this now - thanks!, however something must have gone wrong when you saved it, as this is the original recording of section 8, The Warning and is not The Slaves Dream. Can you take a look at this and reupload both sections again with the corrections please.

Thank you!

Nemo
