Agnes Sorel by George Payne Rainsford James (1799 - 1860).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/agnes-sorel-by-george-payne-rainsford-james/

The Hundred Years' War: a series of conflicts waged from 1337 to 1453 by the House of Plantagenet, rulers of the Kingdom of England, against the House of Valois, rulers of the Kingdom of France, over the succession to the French throne. It was a time of intrigue, plot, murder and romance. Agnes Sorel, aged 20, became the favorite mistress of the King of France, wielding much influence over him and earning many enemies. Her untimely death at the age of 28, just days after bearing him a fourth child, was blamed on dysentery. In this novel, we follow the trials of Jean Charost, secretary to the Duke of Orleans and brother of the king; and see how his life was entwined with that of the beautiful Agnes. ( Lynne Thompson)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/51352
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Interesting that I've read 8 chapters, and we've not met Agnes yet (assuming she wasn't the unfortunate lady on the bed... but who could mistake that for dysentery? -- unless, of course, James was very loose with his facts)

Agnes is PL OK through 5. Can't think she was the lady in the bed . . . do think that baby will show up again in a future chapter . . . Hmm, quite a bit of plot foundation being laid!

Lynne,

I'm listening in the car, so sorry if these are not as specific as I would like, but . . .

On 11 - can you check around 6.59 for a repeat?
And on 12 - can you check at 8.05? It sounded like a dropped word . . . or a word said, but said so softly that I didn't catch it, even the second time.

Thanks.

Repeat deleted at 6:53 8-)
The "I know, I know" was in the text.

I think it was a bad edit -- it was kind of there, but not really  I've replaced the sentence.

Thanks Lynne.

The link to Chapter 9 is not working. I'm at my mom's so I can't check the uploader to see what the problem is. Can you take a look?

Thanks.
