Beth, since James has not logged on and picked up my PM reminder for his corrections, I downloaded his file and took a look at them myself, and I think I managed to iron out all the stumbles and repeats. So the story has not been read in vain and we can use it :)

Recording time: 18:28 min.

Could you please Spot PL the parts I edited ?

Here are the original PL notes from p. 44:

these are the new time-stamps which need to be Spot checked after I cut out the following repeated words:

> at 2:24: body
> at 11:13: held
> at 12:45: soldiers

thanks

Ready for PL:

https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/householdtales_115_grimm_128kb.mp3 3:50
https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/householdtales_142_grimm_128kb.mp3 5:48

Upon review "Simeli Mountain" sounds a little like "Smelly mountain" -- let me know if the pronunciation needs correction.

Hi Gregor, yes it's a cool story, and I think I knew it before already. Excellently read, I loved the angry voice of the devil, hehe. In the end the greedy king got what he deserved.

No textual errors found, there is only one word that you mispronounced, and since you wanted me to tell you this, here it is, although I leave it up to you whether you want to correct it or not, as I think people might be able to understand what you mean in context anyway.

> at 12:35: "A mouse is gnawing at the root; if they killed this they would have golden apples again, but if it gnaws much longer the tree will wither altogether"
> at 15:30: "Kill the mouse which is gnawing at its root"

in the initial 'gn' sound in English the 'g' is never pronounced. The word is more like "nawing". It is just the same than the 'kn' in "knee", you don't pronounce the 'k' there either.

> at the end of the recording you have almost 9 seconds of silence, can you cut that down to the standard 5 please ?

The rest, perfect and entertaining

Smelly Mountain  this was funny ! You're right, I hear that too. But that doesn't matter, anyway, it's not the correct name of the mountain ;) All through the story I wondered why the title was Simeli, since they constantly said Semsi. Well, in the end it all becomes clear.

Both stories, wonderfully read and without any errors. Perfect job, thanks for jumping in at the last minute and helping out, Kurt. :9:

115 & 142 PL ok

The Grave Mound ready for PL (9:36)

Hi Garrett :)

thanks so much for both stories. You're a real good narrator. I loved all the different bird voices you made and the mill wheel and all that. Very nicely done.

Also you have a fluent way of narrating, without rushing through the text, which is great for listeners. No textual errors found, so all is well there.

You only have to correct a few small things, then I can mark them ok in the MW:

For Willow-Wren:

> please cut out the final title "The Willow-Wren", it should not be repeated after "End of Story 171".
> make sure then you have only 5 seconds of silence at the end.

For Grave Mound:

> you forgot to say the end disclaimer "End of Story 195".
> and again, only 5 seconds of silence, please.
> please make sure you name the file correctly: you forgot 'kb' here at the end

That's all :)

aah damn it  That´s because my first name starts with "G". A silent g simply does not feel right

Alright, I fixed it already. Hopefully ok now - and thanks for pointing out the mistake :)

Yeah the devil was a lot of fun to play! Quite straining for the voice, but I am glad I had this opportunity

 well you don't have an 'n' behind the 'g' so that is another matter ;)

awww I'm so sorry and now I made you re-record this long sentence spoken by the devil one more time. :?

Now you can rest your vocal chords. I understand you, I played a witch on several occasions and once had lost my voice for almost an entire day after one recording. I felt like my throat was bleeding.

Ah don´t worry, it´s fine! That one sentence was no problem.

But when I recorded the whole story, I literally recorded everything the devil would say separately and then merge it later. It was just too demanding for the voice, same as with your witch I guess.

It´s part of getting the voice trained, I think, and understanding how you strain your voice and how you treat it well. Did you know that harrumphing is as straining for the voice as talking for about 2 hours? I never knew until I read it and when I payed attention too it, I realized wow it does have big impact!
