Thanks, Gill; I'm glad you were able to get it sorted out. I've updated the flags to "PL OK" in the magic window.

I'll recheck the numbers in that long table in 23 and in the previous sections, just to make sure we match Mr Mayhew's text and errata. EDIT: done.

Gill , would you like to sign on as DPL ? That would let you set the PL status as you go.
It's a bit fiddly getting to access the MW for the first time , but after that you have access to any project your are a co ordinator or a DPLer for any time.
And if real life gets in the way , you can always let us know and we'll get someone else :D

Hi, Anne.
Yes, that's fine. I was thinking of volunteering.
Do I go back through Sections 1-16 or not?

Thanks, Anne.
I did all that, and got the window with projects, but when I clicked on "London Labour..." it gave me a
"You don't have permissions for this area." message.

Gill, Section 23 edited and uploaded. Thanks for your careful work.
A lot of this refers to background noises, I'm afraid, some of which are more noticeable than others. (I skipped several smaller ones too.) Maybe I'm being too "sensitive"! Most are between sentences, so it should be easy to edit them out.
Generally I've dealt with these. As I couldn't hear most of them, I'm relying on you. The clicks are probably from my chair moving; I'll shift to one that's glued a bit more tightly.

EDIT: If you PL other readings, it would save you time to ask first whether or not to mention "noises off", but in this one I'm definitely dependent on you to tell me whether they are intrusive.

The numerical errors I've left, but I've put a note about them in the summary.
Peter

****

P138
7:11-15 some background noises (2nd para 2nd sentence)
[deamplified]

7:59 ditto at “going out of fashion” same para
[deleted]

8:42 bump just before beginning of para 3
[deamplified]

10:00-10:03 background noises (end of para 3)
[I couldn't hear this, but deamplified the silence]

10:56 “flock” said instead of “block” 2nd column 1st para
[replaced]

P139
14:18 click “very seldom their coats” p139 para 1
[deleted]

15:04 – 15:05 noises after “cheaper togs” (same para) and 15:20 at “covered in the cart” and 15:45 “pony to keep and everything that way”
[all deamplified]

16:20 noise at “than I am – lots” p139 para 2
[deamplified]

16:57 noise “he said 26” p139 bottom of 1st column
[I couldn't find this one, but did tidy the area a little]

18:43-44 noises at “London Pride 11,520” 2nd list
[replaced phrase]

19:42 click after “grow their own mignonette” p139 2nd column 1st para of new section
[deleted]

25:50 click at “two or three weeks longer” p140 2nd column para 3 and 26:12-13 rustling noise at end of para 3
[I couldn't hear the first one but deamplified the silence on each side of the phrase; deamplified the second silence]

28:01 noise at “parsley” p141 Column 1 table
[deleted]

32:00 “is” said instead of “it (does not)” 2nd column para 2 halfway
[I've left this, as it sounds like "it" to me, just a bit breathy]

33:42 click at “servants” p142 line 8
[deleted]

35:28 noise at “handy” p142 para 3
[deleted]

37:41-43 rustling noise at “They resorted…” p142 column 2 para 2
[I couldn't hear this, but deamplified the silence before the phrase. Is this what you meant, or is the spoken phrase itself affected?]

50:01 “5,156 China-asters” instead of “9,156” p144 table
[corrected]

50:23 click before the number of poppies in the same list
[deamplified]

52:55 rustling at start of “Flowers in Pots” section p144 2nd column

2nd PL for Section 2:
7:14 still a bump between "then" and "exceedingly beautiful" (p138 2nd para 2nd sentence)

16:57 noise remains at “he said 26” (p139 bottom of 1st column)

25:50 click remains at “two or three weeks longer” (p140 2nd column para 3)

50:23 click remains before the number of poppies in the same list

(Some of the noises mentioned before are still there but not 'serious'.)

Sorry it's not there yet. I know this is a long project.

Thanks, Gill; edited. I think we'll have to leave it as it is after this, as I'm having trouble spotting the sounds that you're catching.

[I've removed what looks like it might be a click in the start of the word "longer", but can't see anything else.]

50:23 click remains before the number of poppies in the same list
[I've removed a sound at the end of "pounds", just before "poppies", but I can't hear (or see on the logarithmic dB display) any other unusual sound, so I'm going to have to leave this if the click is still there.]

Section 24 uploaded.

From Street-Sellers of Green Stuff (PDF 160-168 / text 145-153) Total so far 15:32:56

Section 25 starts at "Of Groundsel ..." on page 153

Gill, please don't worry too much about breath sounds and clicks, unless they are very intrusive. I edit the recordings by listening through them, and should have already corrected these. Especially during speech, I tend to leave breath sounds in, just deamplifying them if they seem too loud. I'm most interested in getting my reading of the text exact.

.... oh, and I realise that my imitation of an eight-year-old girl cress-seller isn't very realistic; I'm just trying to separate speech from narration.
