Okay, my first recording is up! :D

https://librivox.org/uploads/smijen/historyteachersep1909_11_various_128kb.mp3

I have experience with most stuff that would be done with the 1-minute test, but I think some parts are a little distorted. Any feedback is appreciated. As far as my name and forum name, they are the same. I guess forum name would be more convenient for users looking up my other recordings in the future?
I'll do cheap or free voiceovers! PM me if you're interested!

Section 6 has been uploaded...and  Those college history teachers sure can generate some run-on sentences....think some of them should take a college writing class

Hi John,

Here are my standard PL notes: (PL definitions are here: viewtopic.php?p=318667#p318667)
-tech specs are all OK, though your volume is on the high end (we aim for about 89dB and you are at 91dB)
-the section ends after "Clarence S. Paine, of Lincoln, Neb." The box after that is an ad. I'll put a clarification note in the top post that we are not reading the ads.
-there are long pauses at 1:09-1:11 and 1:28-1:31, which should be edited down
-we need 5 seconds of silence at the end

As you asked for feedback, I might add that I agree the sound quality could maybe be a bit better (though it is certainly within what's acceptable for LV). Did you do any noise cleaning? Sometimes you get a bit of distortion when you "over clean" the file. If it's not that, post in Listeners and Editors Wanted and someone with more tech skills will help you out. I also noticed a few mouth noises (clicks), which I wouldn't comment on in a standard PL. People have different opinions on mouth noises... we are after all human beings, mouth noises happen, and some people are not bothered by them at all. I found the one at the very beginning of your file to be quite noticeable, though. I also find it helps to read through the material before recording, sometimes even out loud, so things come out smoother when I record them.

Your standard PL stuff is all fixable without re-recording. Just a matter of cutting and pasting!

Section 3 is PL OK! And sections 2 and 4 are all yours - thanks. :)

You can see your catalog page here: https://librivox.org/reader/11836
You can click on Reader section details to see your section tracking page.

Only one thing missing... when you post a section, please include the duration of the file (e.g., mm:ss) as we need this for cataloging.

I just uploaded a new version of Section 4 - I don't think it's been PL'd yet. Only thing I changed was the EQ. I hadn't realized how "boomy" sounding the original version was and it was quite fatiguing to my ears. I think I recorded too close to the mic.

Would you mind if I re-uploaded section 2 for the same reason? Again, no change other than EQ?

Sure, go ahead. In general, we don't like to re-upload after something has been PL'd because it makes double work for the PL'er, but it's a short section, you're still getting familiar with LV, and I'm PL'ing my own project here (so I'm not agreeing to extra work for someone else :) ).

Section 4 is PL OK!

Did you re-upload section 2? I don't see a new file in my folder.
