Hope and Have; Fanny Grant Among the Indians by Oliver Optic (1822 - 1897).

The fifth volume of the Woodville stories contains the experience of Fanny Grant, who from a very naughty girl became a very good one, by the influence of a pure and beautiful example. The story is not an illustration of the "pleasures of hope;" but an attempt to show the young reader that what we most desire, in moral and spiritual, as well as worldly things, we labor the hardest to obtain—a truism adopted by the heroine in the form of the principal title of the volume, Hope and Have. Previous book in the series is Noddy Newman on a Cruise. The 6th and final book of the series is Haste and Waste. ( Scarlett Martin from book preface)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/24660
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): special

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

All set.
Do you have a DPL set up?
ID tags are optional. Some readers like to include them, but there's really not much point, as they get overwritten by the system at cataloguing. If you decide not to use them, it's OK to delete that section from the first post.
You may want to consider shortening the file name. It should be unique... I would go with hopeandhave, but it's your choice.
Have fun.
Lynne

I recorded chapter 1 with a different mic. I'll have to work on the settings for next time. :-)

Here we go on our new venture. I am looking forward to it. Preface is fine, but the intro omits the "for more information or to volunteer, etc." part. Chapter 1 is well read, but you are right that there are some mic reverberations. I don't think you need to re-record. It is PLOK. (That orphan girl is a nuisance!) Yours, Jim :D

Thinking about you. We have a family member and her family there too, now in a hotel. All your readings are PLOK. Good job. That Fan is a character, no pun intended. Jim
