Father by Samuel E. Kiser ( 1862 - 1942 ).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/father-by-se-kiser/
A tribute to fatherhood by a little known author, Kiser, Samuel E. (Samuel Ellsworth). ( David Lawrence)
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This week's Poem has been suggested by Carolin.
This week's poem can be found here.
[*] Project Code: Hjtmv47y

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Father by S.E. Kiser, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
WHEN all my other debts are paid
My greatest debt will yet be due
For sacrifices you have made
And cares that I have brought to you

I have been slow to understand
The patience and the love and pride
With which for my sake you have planned,
Your own ambitions put aside.

WHEN others have withheld from me
The praise that I have longed to hear,
You, Father, have been quick to see
And glad to speak the word of cheer.

WITH eager efforts you have sought
To smooth my paths and make them fair,
Unselfishly expecting naught
In payment tor your tender care.

I have been slow to learn, but now,
With recollections that are sweet,
I braid a laurel for your brow
And lay my tribute at your feet.

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: father_kiser_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. father_kiser_klh_128kb.mp3 )

ID3 tags (Version 2.30) ID Tags are completed during Cataloging

Thank you Beverly, good reading, but there are a few technical issues with your file...
- your file has a variable bit-rate, we need a constant bit-rate of 128 kbps
- the volume is a bit low at 85.7 dB, we aim for around the 89 dB range
- there is a background hum that can be cleared up with Noise Reduction

Please let me know if you need help with these items.

*Please let me know under what name would you like to appear in the LV catalog and if you have one, we can put your personal URL link on your catalog page too.

Welcome to LibriVox Motti. :D
Good first reading, however the volume is too low at 77.9 dB, you should aim for your wave forms to peak near the 0.5 mark, like this:
Image

You can check your volume using our Checker program - see info at http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker Make sure you download the experimental version - you will find the volume in decibels on the Information tab. For your information, we look for around 89 dB (87-91 is OK)

You have left out the 'outro'...
At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.
Please make these corrections and upload again using the same filename. Thanks :)
