You read this section very nicely, Susan. Thank you!susanjhudson wrote:Hi!
I just recorded/edited Chapter 21 (Drury Lane, Part 3). Here's the URL. It's 50m17.37s long.

Unfortunately there are some items that need your attention. The list looks daunting, but mostly the items can be fixed with simple edits. Be sure you work from the end of the list backwards to the beginning, otherwise the times will quickly not line up. If you have any questions about this or what to do, you can ask questions in this thread or send me a private message. Sorry to have such a long list, your reading is quite enjoyable, its mainly background noises that are the problem.
00:00 to 00:01.44 The silence at the beginning of the recording should be no longer than 1 second. This silence is 1.4 seconds long.
00:12 to 08:20 There are many instances of background noise that sounds to me like paper shuffling or page turning. Trying to fix each individual occurrence would be very time consuming. I think the best bet here is simply to re-record from the beginning to 08:20 and replace the existing part of the file with the new recording.
09:41: I heard a click that should be edited out.
10:32 to 10:39 A repeated phrase that I think you meant to cut out.
15:57 I hear what sounds like a cat’s cry
17:08 I hear what sounds like paper shuffling
17:22 I hear a metallic click
18:26 I hear a click
18:32 to 18:34 I think this pause is over long
28:55 to 28:56 I think this pause is over long
31:42 to 31:53 A repeated phrase that I think you meant to cut out
36:49 I hear a click or pop
38:10 I hear a click or pop
50:15 I hear a click or pop
50:23 to 50:40 On this project the silence at the end of the recording should be about 10 seconds. This silence is 17 seconds.

Hi, Lynette:
I think I fixed everything on the list. Thanks for such a careful listen and such clear directions -- especially the tip about starting the edits at the end of the recording!
So the new version is uploaded: 49.57.67
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/hauntedlondon_21_thornbury_128kb.mp3
I'm still likely to make newbie mistakes, so your feedback is welcome.

Thank you Susan... I can't take credit for proof listening as our DPL is Tom (Penumbra)susanjhudson wrote:Hi, Lynette:

Thank you for your reading and careful edits. This version is much improved, with almost all of the background noises eliminated. I have just a few items for your attention:
00:00 to 08:18 I suggest you amplify this section by 5 db to bring it more in line with the rest of the recording.
15:40 the word "bishop" is repeated
15:53 to 15:55 I hear "chapter 21" which does not appear in the text and I think is maybe an editing mishap
31:54.08 to 31:55.10 I hear a double click that should be cut out
36:20.03 to 36:20.06 I hear a click that should be cut out
36:20.24 to 36:20.30 I hear a click that should be cut out
This last double click (at 36:20) I have broken into two parts so that you won't delete the "t" sound of the word "pot" when you edit.
A terrific job of reading and editing! Thank you!

Nicely read, as always. I have just one item:wildlindajohnson wrote:Here's Section 25:
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/hauntedlondon_25_thornbury_128kb.mp3 [52:10]
Your intro starts with "Chapter 14 of Haunted London..." and the project specifications call for an intro that starts with the chapter and part number (so, "Chapter 14 part 2 of Haunted London...")
And now for the bad news
I went back and checked and the same thing is true for sections 10 through 15 and 24. Totally my bad for not catching it at the time. Would you be willing to go back to those sections and put in the part? It might help easily confused listeners.
Thank you, and I'm dreadfully sorry.

Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well! (That's one for every Section I had to fix!) Sorry for the goofup.

Thank you so much! You are the best!
I checked them all and everything is good...except (bummer) section 24 doesn't have "part 1" in it. I know, you were just testing me to see if I was paying attention.
Sections 10 through 15 are PL OK! (again)
Section 25 is PL OK!

Uh, oh, is it possibly you're referring to the old version?..... because the new one I uploaded definitely has "part 1" at the intro. Shall I resend that link?Penumbra wrote:Thank you so much! You are the best!
