a bit of Baron Scarpia from Tosca mixed with a little Lord Macbeth with just a touch of righteous sensuality

My good man, if you only knew!
"Sometimes you hate villains, but you love that you hate them, and it finds this happy medium where you enjoy the process of loathing them so much that you want them to be there. It's such a weird, twisted thing that our minds do."

Perfect, thank you Sandra! The bad guy who gets something of a redemptive arc. You'll enjoy this role, I'm sure!catharmaiden wrote:I'll help out by claiming Saib

Oh yay, that was so quick! I'm glad you enjoyed it. That's one more role done!

Thank you Sandra for helping out unsurprisingly, Saib has been excellently characterized. I loooove the raspy voice And no errors either, no missed lines, so all 5 acts are PL ok.catharmaiden wrote:here is my Saib, I enjoyed the role a lot

Here is my 1st section, ready for PL:

Length is 11:17
Sorry, it took me a bit longer than planned, but I had to record it several times before I felt it portrayed Osmond the way that I felt him.
He's actually a bit more like lago from Othello mixed with some Edmund from King Lear I think.
Hope it fits the bill!!!

Thanks, Nemo! I like the comparisons to Iago and Edmund, and putting your own spin on the character is always welcome. Now I turn it over to Sonia for PL duties.

Wow Nemo, I really really like your characterization of this villain. Right from the start, in your first soliloquy, he reminds me of Macbeth, still having doubts about his acts but rationalizing them with his conscience, so he can pursue his goal nevertheless. His creepy deceivingly soft voice makes him sound like a straight-out psychopath.NemoR wrote:Here is my 1st section, ready for PL:

Then in his dialogue with Angela, he first speaks softly, almost pleadingly, but then the tone changes drastically to a barely repressed threat with "but if you refuse and scorn my offer...". Very nicely done
With Percy then he shows his true face, much more menacing in that dialogue. All in all, I would say this is a highly complex character and you manage to convey this very well. Looking forward to the rest.
Act 2 is PL ok, nothing missing, no errors.
So to answer your question: yes it DOES fit the bill.

Nicely done yet again. Osmond becomes more and more the tragic villain. It's so interesting, when I first read the play, I pictured him much more the unredeemable evil. However you enhance on the "fatal love" he holds for Evelina, and thus also for Angela, the love that is at the root for all his evil. That makes him tragic, even though evil. In a movie, he would probably be played by some great actor who is stealing the show from the originally designed "hero" of the storyNemoR wrote:Act 3, ready for PL:

I like this twist a lot. Oh and the grappling with Kenric scene is very lively due to your struggling noises. It's small details like this that are essential for a good drama play.
Act 3 PL ok. Thanks !

I was playing around a bit with the reverb effect, since you are supposed to be a ghostly apparition singing this. Please have a listen, whether you like it that way. If Tomas also agrees then, this would be a nice special effect to the play. But it's your voice, so you have a say in this:

Oh and the file is PL ok. I could not check with the original archive text, since archive seems to be down at the moment, so I referred myself to the google docs.

Well, I think it's perfect with reverb. I hope Kalynda is OK if we use it.
