Thanks, Jack. I'll take a listen to these soon and let you know.

Greetings. Looking for my 2nd LV title to work on, and since I live in Tucson I thought some of the titles with an AZ connection might be a good fit for me. May I please be assigned to:
68 Freighting from Wilcox to Globe
Thanks!

Your voice is perfect for these, at times it reminded me of a lonesome train call and I could feel myself riding along in the heat!
I'm marking this PL OK, however at around second 52, you read:
"Led by false illusion
And those foolish, gold dreams;
... the text is actually:
"Led by false illusion
And those foolish, golden dreams;"
It changes it slightly, but I'll leave it up to you whether you want to edit and re-upload or not.

Thanks, good catch! Re-uploaded with the correction. I couldn't quite match the noise reduction from the surrounding verses, let me know if it's too obvious.I'm marking this PL OK, however at around second 52, you read:

Nice reading, Jack! I think we'll just go with the first one, although they are all nice. I hope you'll take some more One note -- make sure that the ending silence is 5 seconds (it was 10 on one of these), and your volume was a bit low, but still within range.JackAllan wrote:
Hi Larry,
Here are links to this read. I provided (3) choices - a straight read and two versions of a "cowboy" dialect.

Thanks Larry! I'll be sure to check that the silence is only 5 seconds and try to get the volume up. Volume seems to be my biggest challenge right now . I'll also consider some of the other poems.silverquill wrote:Nice reading, Jack! I think we'll just go with the first one, although they are all nice. You have a great voice for these! .... I especially liked the somber tone you took with Buena Vista Battlefield!
Sections 14,20,141 and 142 are all PL OK!
The volume on section 08 is too high. We like to be between 87-91 dB and this is almost at 92. if you could fix and upload again, that would be great!
You may already be familiar with this, but just in case you are not, you can adjust this in Audacity by selecting the whole file and going up to the top toolbar and selecting "Effect", then "Amplify" and then in this case putting -3.0 in the "Amplification(dB)" box and hitting "OK".
Thank you!

Thank you so much for the feedback and suggestion!
8 Should be fixed now. I've mostly been using Checker and then MP3gain to correct the dB before I send, this one must have slipped through. I'll experiment with it in Audacity as well.

To keep things moving along, if you'll have me (I'm a greenhorn), I'd be happy to PL some sections as they come in. I'm not ready to sign up as a DPL for a project yet, I have to get some iterations under my belt and learn the ropes first.
I'll listen for you down the trail...
