Good evening, my name is Francesco Carzedda, I am Sardinian, I am an enthusiast of this project.
I would like to contribute with the reading of a novel of our Nobel Prize, Grazia Deledda, "La dama bianca" of 1894.
I need to gather up the courage, as the sounds of my recorded voice... is not familiar to me ...

Like "The turn of the screw" by Henry James (one of my favorite novels) it is a tale narrated - mostly to young people - in front of the fireplace.

This is the translation of a review from books.google.it :

"A fantasy story that refers to the oral tradition of the "Contos de foghile" (tales of the fireplace): the ancient fairy tales and the legends that storytelling masters used to tell the younger in front of the fire.
An "evil" for a mystery novel full of treasures and mysteries that will be revealed to be a valuable and "bizarre" will, written in the Sardinian language and in "ancient calligraphy."

You're welcome to record that book but you need to do the one minute recording so that we can make sure that all your equipment is working properly.

The book is good to read, although we would prefer if you could use this link to a "real" 1894 edition:

As for the test, you should have received a "welcome" email telling you all the details of what/how/and then? If not, please read this here carefully:

You can use any recording device, as long as you can produce a final recording with the correct specifications.

Unfortunately the original edition is full of mistakes and typos, but I see that this printing

is very clean and reliable.

Do you think I can use it?
It is the original text word by word.

Please, I would like to use pieces of a reading from Librivox as the base for the movie transposing a novel.
"Public domain" means that I am allowed to make this use?
I would give credits to the author and Librivox.

Should the video be shared under a particular license?

Hi Francesco,

we need to find a trustworthy source for all of our books, so we can make sure your recording is safe for a long time on here

I have found it on liberliber.it, a source we have used before; they have many more books by Deledda:

If you only want to do that one particular short story, please first do your test, and then head over to our multilingual short story collection here: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=63065
If you want to do the whole book, then you'd have to start a solo and be on your own...

As for the movie: Yes, you may use all of our recordings for any purposes, and you may licence your film as you like/need it. We do always appreciate a link to LibriVox and a mention of the reader, of course.
Which text would it be anyway? (Yes, I'm terribly curious!)

Ava, I transposed "Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad" by M. R. James using sequences from the fantastic reading of Anthony Ryan, whom I thanked publicly in the video credits and in the comment (as well as by e-mail) and I linked to Librivox

The actor has never been to Hollywood (hehehe), and I hope you'll like the short movie.
All of the resources used in the video (cliparts, animated gifs, music, sounds) are released as free on Internet and credited in an external page.

Concerning the original book by Grazia Deledda, I will use the original edition and link to it... after the 1-minute-text.
I also introduced the staff of the local library to the project, they are likely to think about an idea to contribute.

Could you please post your link in viewtopic.php?f=60&t=68007 ? The first post there lists what you need to include with the file link.

Can you also just link to the text you recorded from, too, so we can prove that the text is in the public domain.

The recording sounds lovely and clear! And it's very nearly the right format -- only, it should be 44.100Hz, rather than 48.000Hz. Could you take a look again at your software and see if you can find that setting? Just ask if you want help.
