The Conquest of Canaan by Booth Tarkington (1869 - 1946).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-conquest-of-canaan-by-booth-tarkington/

Small town middle America in early 1900's---Ne'er-do-well Joe Louden loves daughter of wealthy judge, from afar---leaves town, goes to law school--returns to scandalize all be defending impossible cases---wins over town. Story of small town mores, social inequity, changing times, honor and greed. ( Bob Rollins)
  1. Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/483
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"

However, the format of the Magic Window is different. (Is it the same as the Dashboard?). So it is not entered there.

Do I take any initiative to find a Proof Listener?

Great Bob.

It's the same MW system. Maybe it looks different because it's all blank? I've added a couple of section titles and the link to the first section to get you started.

I will advertise for a DPL now that you have a section ready to listen to.

1 PL OK.

Intro is a hybrid of the long and short intros but includes all the relevant stuff.

THANKS SO MUCH, DAVE for volunteering!
Do not hesitate to be highly critical. I have pretty thick skin. I would appreciate criticisms in areas such as
pronunciation (such as " too Southern"), pacing, vocal range, etc. -------in addition to word corrections. Bob R

3 PL OK.

Bob,
If you edit your first post you can remove the ~ symbol before the book title. Interesting story, by the way.
