Are you tired of ignoring your conscience? Do you want to follow the inward guide to wherever it may lead? Are you ready to realise your full potential even though those around you may have no idea how to relate? Then "The Life Triumphant" is for you. This book is uncompromising! It shows you the way to the realisation of that inward power that you have so long wanted to experience but have lacked the courage to pursue 100%. We were meant to be masters, not slaves. This book will show you "How to Master the Heart and Mind" and take up your place as the triumphant Director of your Life. (Andani Thakhathi)
Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated). Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!
The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording! START of recording (Intro):
"Chapter [number] of The Life Triumphant: Mastering the Heart and Mind. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Say: "The Life Triumphant: Mastering the Heart and Mind, by James Allen. [Chapter]"
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
"Chapter [number] of The Life Triumphant: Mastering the Heart and Mind by James Allen. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Only if applicable, say: "[Chapter title]"
END of recording:
At the end of the section, say: "End of [Chapter]"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
At the end of the book, say (in addition): "End of The Life Triumphant: Mastering the Heart and Mind, by James Allen."
There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording, or 10 seconds for files longer than 30 minutes.
Example filename lifetriumphant_##_allen_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. lifetriumphant_01_allen_128kb.mp3)
Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
As you're the soloist, you're in charge of updating the Magic Window.
Detailed Instructions for accessing the Magic Window can be found in the document linked below: Instructions for Soloists
Video showing how to use the Magic Window (read the above document first - it has the information on how to log in for the first time, which this does not have):

I've entered the first two chapters for you as an example. You can fill in the rest.
When you upload a chapter, put the file duration (mm:ss) in the Notes field and the uploaded URL into the Listen URL field, and mark it from Assigned to Ready for PL.
0-2
All three files need 5s of silence at the end of the file.
1
Volume is a tad high (92.5dB) and the file should be amplified by -2. The goal is to be around 89dB.
Upload the corrected files with their proper file names (as described above) and then update the file times in the notes column of the MW.
Otherwise, pl ok. Nice reads.
I have have re-recorded and adjusted as advised. I have only recorded the forward for now so we can make sure we're on the same page quality wise before I charge ahead. I did the following:
- I put the volume down; does it sound better now?
- I changed the file name as required (so no need to worry about changing them Tricia)
- I removed the background noise
- I updated the magic window accordingly
Is it better this time? I'll wait for your feedback.
This message is just to inform you that I am still very committed to this project. My initial strategy was to try to record as many chapters as possible before hand by I never realised it would be so tough to get meet the PL's standards. Therefore having to rerecord each chapter is quite time-consuming as you'd imagine and I'm busy with my studies currently so there are periods where I must just focus on making progress there.
I will only record one chapter at a time going forward unit Dave is happy then I'll move onto the next one. This means however, that we'll move a lot slower than anticipated but at least we'll all be happy with the quality.
I travel back home in May for some time off my studies. Expect my next submission then!
