Olga Romanoff by George Griffith (1857 - 1906).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/olga-romanoff-by-george-griffith/

Olga Romanoff (1894) is a science fiction novel by the English writer George Griffith, first published as The Syren of the Skies in Pearson's Weekly.
The novel continues (from The Angel of the Revolution) the tale of a worldwide brotherhood of anarchists fighting the world armed with fantastical airships, ending on an apocalyptic note as a comet smashes into the earth. ( Wikipedia)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/54096
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

That would be great. But this is my first proper solo project, so I'm not entirely sure about procedures here.

Hi Craig,

I'll MC this one for you! Back in a moment with your MW, a little bit of homework for you!

OK, your MW is in and ready for you, but you need to get ready for the MW. I need you to read this document here. This will tell you how to get into the workflow system (the Magic Window) for the first time. Let me know whether you have gotten into the workflow or not, sometimes soloists have a problem that is easy to solve.

Also, as the soloist, you are responsible for you own MW. That means you get to fill in the section titles and paste your own links into the MW where they need to be. All of these tasks are discussed in the same document.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Also, thanks DaveC!

I also would like to make a request...could you, at a later time, write a new summary? The one from wikipedia has a spoiler in it, and I think something better can be written, something that will grab the listener. It doesn't have to be too long, nor do you have to be super creative. Pretty, please?

Yes...I did notice that. If it's OK I think I would like to leave this until towards the end, but it will be done.

Yes, definitely, that is fine with me! Just let me know before I catalog, I normally look to see if the summary has changed, but sometimes I slip.

Well, it looks like you are all set, so I think it is time for us to move over to Going Solo!

Hi

I have uploaded the prologue as a starter.
I would really appreciate any tips or comments. I have applied noise reduction based on the 'replay gain' report, leaving it slightly higher and also adjusted the 'equalization' slightly. Is this the right thing to do???
Thanks in advance to DaveC, you never know it may help you sleep; and thanks to Ann for your support and guidance.

After thought... Do I need to paste a link here and the length as normal?

0 PL OK.

Nice read. The technical specs are excellent. Posting in the thread and in the MW is best. In the MW change the status (in the last column) to "ready for pl" and put the time (mm:ss) in the notes column. As there are fewer than 100 sections the section numbers need only be two-digit starting with 00.

1 PL OK!

Beginning with the second section you can use the shorter intro. It's optional and entirely up to you.
