Thanks. We turned the mic gain up quite a bit before beginning. Trying to get that balance. Could you tell me what the DB was at that level please and thank you?

Will get to 16 soon. May just re record 4 at higher mic gain.

I'd try to edit it before rerecording, for sure! The volume now on section 4 is 85.7 dB. So it just needs to be a little bit louder :)

Hi.

Regarding to section 4. How much do we compress this file? We use audacity.

Section 5 is well read, April :)

The volume is a little bit soft. Please amplify by 2 or 3. You might have to compress the recording first (that squashes the highest peaks, allowing us to amplify more). Here is a video that explains how to compress in Audacity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ3lOTDsN6c. :)

Everything else is great

Welcome to this project! Please do a 1 minute test before embarking on any recording :) What would you like your catalog name to be? It can be your forumname, your real name, or something else entirely

Good :) I just posted in your 1 minute test thread about your test ;)

Here is you reader's page in the catalog -- it lets you keep track of your claims etc. Ask if you have questions!

Section 4 is still a bit soft in volume. When I compress, I do the following:
Select the whole recording. Click Effect> Compress. I use these settings
Threshold -14dB
Noise Floor -40 dB
Ratio 2:1
Attack Time 0.20 secs
Release Time 1.0 secs

Click OK. Then you'll be able to amplify more :)

Sometimes I have to do it twice in order to be able to amplify the recording enough to get to approximately 89dB.

Hi again.

Here is Chapter 4 with the tweaking you suggested. I have no idea how you came up with those numbers in the compressor area, but hopefully they will do the trick.

Once I get all The Trail cleaned up, I will concentrate fully on Red Cross. Scanning the info on MW and BC seems a bit complicated for me to figure out and follow at the moment. I'm still attempting to get a cleared recording first time out.

Let me know how this comes out.

Thanks. Deb
