I compared the Gutenberg version against this one (https://archive.org/stream/vignettessanfra00bailgoog#page/n8/mode/2up) and found mistakes in the Gutenberg version.

I am planning on making the corrections in my reading, I'm assuming that is OK (I'm new to this!)
if they are obvious mistakes, and if you can prove them by the other text, I think it's totally fine to correct. Gutenberg is not always 100% accurate.

Phil, do you think we should change the primary text source to the archive scans maybe ? :hmm:

Awesome! .... thanks so much for your quick reply!

No. The text we are using is that from Gutenberg and we should really stick with that. Other editions may or may not have been checked for copyright, I have no idea. If anything changes I will post in this thread but until then, please stick with the link in the first post. Glad you asked.

Hi Nemo. Please do not make changes to the Gutenberg text when recording. We sometimes use Archive texts but not in this case. Thanks for asking. The whole problem is that Gutenberg does a good job of verifying the public domain status while anyone can post anything in Archive.

Ok sorry, I was under the impression, that the archive text was the original scan the Gutenberg text was based on. So if we found errors in Gutenberg we could have checked with archive for the original. But of course if it's a different edition this will not work. I just did not consider this possibility. I'm sorry I gave wrong information now :(

thank you Nemo, both sections are PL ok. I love the quiet tone of your voice while reciting these lines :9: it's really easy and agreeable to listen to.

Hope to hear more from you :)

also here: all 4 sections PL ok. I especially liked the one about the cafeteria  I can relate to some of the author's problems, although I guess I am more "cafeteria-wise" than she is.

Thanks Betty !

Thank you Sonia!

I've only been doing some of these for a week or so, so it is very nice to receive some positive feedback on the readings!

I love how the author has a way of observing the city around her and sharing these things with us in a very empathetic and non-critical way and sprinkled with her wit. I was surprised to see this was published in 1921, as it has such a contemporary feel to it!
