Hi Hazel,

Welcome to Librivox! Yes, that would be fine!

We do ask that you send in a 1-minute test recording before jumping into a longer recording. This is not an audition, it's just to make sure the sound quality and the recording settings are all right - often things can be improved at the outset that are difficult to fix later. Here are links to the section on the 1 minute test in the wiki: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test and also the Newbies Guide to Recording: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Newbie_Guide_to_Recording

In the LibriVox Uploader, please select 'tests - tests' from the MC drop-down, and then post your test recording in the Listeners Wanted forum - viewforum.php?f=21 - rather than in this thread - you'll get feedback more quickly there.

Thanks and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!
Maria

I though this might make me more hopeful, but unfortunately it looks like we may have another Nor'easter this week ... :?

• Agnes Taylor Ketchum and Ida M. Jorgensen (cannot find any info on either, but I assume if it's on mainlesson it's PD?)

Thank you, Kalynda ~ it is PL OK!

The original copyright year for the book it is from is 1890, so it is fine. I know we have used that website before, and they state that this book is PD.

Hoping you don't get too much snow! Hardly any snow here this winter - and I don't mind it at all. Unfortunately warmth brought out some flowers much to early, and we had a hard freeze last night that turned the beautiful magnolia tree flowers brown. I always dread that that will happen!

Hi James,

My apologies for not replying sooner! I intended to do so the other day, and then it slipped my mind!

Looking the story over, I think this is more for adults than children. In fact, on wikipedia, the book it is in is listed under "Story collections for adults": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E._Nesbit#Stories_and_story_collections_for_adults

I think the Short Story Collection would be a more appropriate place for it. You can find the current project thread here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=63420

Thank you, and again my apologies for not replying sooner!

Hi George,

Welcome to Librivox! Great job! The recording is fine, however there is one small technical problem. The recording is in stereo and we need it to be in mono. If you could fix that and reupload, that would be great! If you need help to do this, let me know what program you are using and I will try to help you!

Also, could you let me know what name you would like to use for your catalog page? It can be your forum name, real name, pseudonym.......whatever you prefer!

Hi Maria!

I have reformatted my audio and uploaded it. Here's the link:

Thanks!

And also, I'm fine with being called "George Gao", as in my real name.

Hi George,

Unfortunately, it is still in stereo!

Are you using Audacity to edit? If so here is a video that one of our volunteers made on how to convert from stereo to mono in Audacity.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJ-Nq-os2YI

If you could try again, that would be great!

Here is a link to your catalog page, which is a great way to keep track of what you have completed, and what you have signed up for: https://librivox.org/reader/11729

Let me know if you need more help with the stereo issue!
